Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

For if the dark returns than my brothers will die

He rolled his eyes as Kili bumped into him with a playful growl, trying to instigate a fight as he had when they were children. It felt like forever ago since Fili had relaxed and played with his brother. It was good to have at least some fun in life. He shoved Kili back, harder than the younger brute just to remind him who was the older. Then he leapt at him, nipping at the second son's skin and letting out little puppy like growls. It was different than before though; the two were so evenly matched that neither could win. Despite Thorin's extra attentiveness to Fili, Kili was just as good -- if not better -- at fighting. Both ended up pinned down a few times and both refused to give in to the other. When at last the pair were panting and making empty, playful threats showing that they were both tired but wouldn't stop until the other did. As if by some unspoken agreement they flamed down together, breathing slowing in unison. Once the younger laid down Fili inspected him meticulously, the exasperated looks and sighs not lost on him. He was just as used to them as the raven brute was to his actions. It had always been this way. Even at the busiest times on the quest they'd check in with one another to make sure they were ok. It was no different now.

Kili picked up on Fili's discomfort with the topic of Thorin and tried to cheer his brother up. "Ah lighten up Fili. We'll just go back, apologize, give him our sweet puppy dog eyes and everything will be good again. He needs us and we all know that." The red blonde boy huffed. It wasn't that simple. Maybe that would work for Kili, but it was harder for him. He twisted away from his little brother. "Ylu just don't get it, do you?" he laid his head on his paws, regretting the tone he had just used. It wasn't fair of him to be irritated with the younger. He didn't know what was going on. Still, he could understand that Fili was upset and just drop the subject. Of the many things he and his brother argued about when they did (and that was not as often as one might think), it was usually about one of them prodding on a touchy subject and persisting to talk about it. The first born did this as well, so he couldn't blame only Kili, but this was one of those times. Hopefully ignoring the possibility that Thorin would not take their disspppearancd well at all would make the problem go away.

He couldn't blame Kili for the surprise at his suggestion. It was rare that something like this would ever come out of Fili's mouth, even form in his mind. "You don't mean that, do you?" No! Of course not...... But was that true? The elder was confused. Leaving..... It would mean dissappointment, disapproval, dishonor, and cold, accusing glares from the wolves in their homeland. But it would mean freedom and no worries. But they couldn't abandon Thorin. Not now, after they'd come so far. He was hard on them, but deep down he loved them. And if Fili left and Thorin did die...... What would happen to the throne? It was all so confusing. The boy just shrugged at his brother. It was a possibility either way.

The food motivation woke Kili up faster than even their mother had -- a difficult feat for sure. He dug into the rabbit, confirming Fili's theory that he hadn't been eating. His usual perk and cheeriness returned in moments as he tore at the rabbit. Fili could only watch in mild amusmant, taking more time as he bit into his own meal. A small chuckle rumble in his throat, but died down as quickly as it had begun when the younger looked up. "So what's on the agenda for today?" He asked, a picture of his normal self. Fili bit his lip in thought. It was strange that for once in their life, they could do whatever they wanted and no one could stop them or tell them otherwise. It was clear both of them were tired and worn out and he decided that they deserved a break from Thorin and the company. The brujo laid down, inviting his brother to do the same. The stiff way he generally held himself relaxed. He was.... At ease. "It's been months since we've really had any chance to talk about anything what with all the traveling and stuff. I think we should relax, catch up. I want to know how you feel about the whole thing and what's going on in your life." Uh, he sounded so stuck up. Like he was leading a therapy session. "So, any love interests?" He grinned. He always teased Kili with this question. The girls back home weren't much to look at, but they'd met lots of people on their adventure. And, being an overprotective brother, he wanted to know the details of the second born's love life. With this time for them to talk, maybe he would finally get around to telling Kili about the pressure Thorin had been putting on him. Then he would understand why Fili was acting this way.
