Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

2 years - no mate - lost soul - taviora

Today had been a late start. Again. Someone really needed to tell her internal dial that warm weather was no excuse to sleep in. Then again, she might blame the puppies. They were warm and, nine times out of ten, she would wake up with at least two pressed firmly against her; they weren’t much good at giving her space unless she was awake. All that body heat, the extra fur, it didn’t exactly make it difficult to sleep. But, as a hunter, the necessity to be up for the early game far outweighed the comfort of sleeping in with the children in the warmth of an overcrowded den. If this kept up, she was going to have to start sleeping outside again. At least then, when the sun rose, the light would wake her.

But she hadn’t done too bad. With three and a half pounds of cinnamon fur dangling from her jaws, she was already on her way back toward the center of Taviora. Sure, it was no big game, but Pine Martens were a sweet snack, akin to rabbit in many ways, and could help feed a summer pup at the very least. Coza’s latest litter was already being weaned, so she would assume others were doing as such. But her foster brothers and sisters had eaten the remnants of the moose Coza had dragged home last night, so this critter she’d caught this morning was going elsewhere. Maybe Sen could use the morsel? Her favorite medic had three yearlings to feed, which was certainly no small task in itself. Yeah, she’d just go drop off the critter with him, then go back out to see what else she could forage today.

Suomi had altered her course to head for the medic’s usual station, small paws carrying her lean body at an easy lope through the trees, when a loud summons brought her to an abrupt halt. Body standing at attention, the silver-lined ebon girl turned her wine-red gaze in the direction of the call, the golden flecks burning within her irises as the dappled sunlight trickled down from the trees.

The initial alarm of hearing Coza’s howl died off quickly once his easy tone became apparent. Smooth, happy... This wasn’t an emergency or... something bad. The girl let out breath in a small huff as her fur began to settle back against her body, her silver undercoat all but disappearing beneath her sleek, black exterior.

Oh, great. Social hour.

She couldn’t say she was particularly thrilled to take time out of her hunting schedule to sit around and watch the adults try to conduct a meeting while, at the same time, trying to handle their numerous children... But, this was still her pack, her family. And family matters, well... They mattered. She could suffer through an exhausting conversation if it meant keeping up with the goings-ons of Taviora. For them...

Turning toward the lingering echo of the beacon, Suomi took off at a dizzying pace through the forest, muzzle and Pine Marten tucked firmly to her chest to keep the meal from getting battered on the run. Awkward as it was, with the angled of her neck and the furry critter stuffed in her jaws, the girl managed to answer back. A loud, piercing howl of her own was let loose in the forest, only slightly muffled by her little red trophy, to let her father of sorts know she was on her way. It was only minutes later that she found herself in Coza’s clearing, stopping short and offering a slow wave of her high sailing tail in greeting.

The girl set the limp Pine Marten down at her paws gently before looking back to the chocolate and cream giant with a fond sort of smirk on her face. ”What’s up?” Suomi asked in casual appeal, her tail giving another gentle sway. She had never found a reason to be completely submittal when it was just the two of them, not when Coza knew full well she had no intentions of giving him a challenge. They had this, sort of, understanding. Or love. They could call it that, even if she found the word particularly insufferable. Much as others told her that feeling would pass as she matured... Well, Suomi wasn’t one to take the opinions of others, or at least most, in high regard.

Point was, she wasn’t putting on a show of her station until their little meeting had more participants. Then she might drop her banner slightly... just a little. Enough. She didn’t need people going around thinking she was some subservient damsel, after all.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
