aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

She glanced back, just once, to see Aindreas silently making his way over to Aurora Borealis’ Lake. Unlike herself, he had continued his pace at leisure and had not acted upon her challenge. He had probably found a source of happiness in the peace and quiet that her absence brought, it meant that he would not be forced to converse with her. Leila couldn’t help wonder why he had been moulded into the wolf he was, and what he had gone through in his lifetime. Aindreas was polite and a true gentleman but he seemed indifferent to many social interactions, and flirtatious comments or other compliments. The ashen dragoness sighed softly, wishing that she could somehow cheer him up but without knowing him properly, she could never know. It hurt her to see anyone who was in discomfort or grief.

Returning to her hunt, the girl leaned forward in a sudden burst of energy – just managing to retain her stillness. A dark coloured fish with a slight tint of green glided past her paws in seemingly indecisive patterns. She raised her paw, preparing to kill with the impact of her strike. As she brought it down, ripples spiralled out from the area she struck and in that moment her paw slowed and in that moment lost any hopes of winning herself a meal. She huffed in silent frustration before raising her eyes to meet the words from her companion.

Leila let out a small, inaudible gasp. She hadn’t realised that he had been catching for her. He had stated that he could catch whichever fish it was that would please her to eat but still, she had presumed that he would have opted to catch something for himself firstly. “Of course…” The girl said, her head tilting slightly, “thank you my good sir, it looks great. Are you catching something for yourself or aren’t you hungry?” She hadn’t considered whether the actual fish would be to her liking. She only had a rudimental understanding of different flavours or textures existing within the food type. And if she had decided to turn his offer down, she may have appeared rude or wasteful. However she was certain that the taste would be pleasant enough.

She wasn’t surprised at his talent; he had after all informed her that there had been a stream running through Munashii Gekko. Aindreas wasn’t a conceited wolf as far as she could tell either, so when he said he was ‘adequate at fishing’ she was able to tell that it was not an arrogant lie. Although the way he phrased it, he appeared anything but arrogant.

The tempest gently edged forward, parting her maw to retrieve the swimming meat. She flashed a grateful grin at the pallid brute before bounding through the water in a quick, fluid motion. Before settling upon the shore, Leila shook out her fur, emitting water from beneath the layer of fur. She skidded to her stomach, resting upon the ground before beginning to indulge into her meal. She breathed in relief, the taste of the meat was far from repulsive. It was delicious and salty. The girl’s ripe gaze lifted to find the location of her companion.
