At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The silence is almost too much for the young lass. As if on cue, the elegant girl beings to tremble slightly, her unanswered question hanging in the air. Dangerous thoughts caress her beautiful mind for all the delicate dove knows is that this could very well be a trap. Chills seep along her spine as the slender form seems to shift backwards slightly. The eerie still of the world causes her to feel trapped, suffocating within this bubble of intense confusion. The girl felt torn between helping this broken looking demon and running for her very life. The stench of blood was beginning to overwhelm her, the power of death filling her lungs the more she breathed. Her head began to spin, world whirling as she attempted to hear through the deafening noise of her own beating heart. Had he said anything? Was she dying? She couldn’t move and before the heiress knows it, she isn’t breathing. There is a brief moment in this intense fear where she actually holds her delicate breath, perhaps it is her way of rebelling. Only she would take her life, no other. Yet she is not trying to commit suicide. This is an unconscious act that she does, this holding of her breath. It is something that seems to help clear her head, empty out her thoughts so she may focus better on the situation. I can see that death is not leering at her doorway but from where the girl stands, it appears so.

Strange how in this moment all the girl had felt for this beast was fear. For a split second she had felt something else though,; sympathy? Empathy? No, not even those subtle feelings would cause her to do such a drastic thing such as come near to the killing machine. He was much larger than she, this she could tell as she came back into focus. His coat of the purest white and it was something she had never seen before. Where she came from, there were no such things such as this gem. The flower’s heart begins to slow as bright hazels shift along his massive form. He is merely breathing, if one could call it that. All dangerous thoughts begin to drift away as he lay before her. She almost takes another step forward, almost reaches her nose out to feel the feeling of his coat upon her flesh. It is a powerful thing, curiosity, it is something that can turn prey towards the predator far too easily. Right now, Lihli was the prey and in all of this, the poor girl had met the predator.

Movement.

It is so fast and swift that Lihli hardly has any time to react. The male is up, towering over her as a sickening pop resonates through the area and settles into her ears. Her form quakes, light paws dancing back away from the heavy soldier. She inhales, holding her breath as her heart races into full throttle once more. Would this fear ever cease? His gaze shifts to her violently, shocking orbs latching onto her own sunlit portals. Her body freezes, the prey easily available for the kill as she finds herself within a trance. It isn’t death she faces in that gaze, it is something else. That something causes the girl’s heart to reach another level of ferocious beating, her body shuddering gently as she finds herself willing to follow the monster straight into the very depths of darkness. There is more than the sickening scent of blood that surrounds her now; the aroma of him slides into her nares, a mixture of dirt, rain and pure strength. She cannot breathe, cannot move, nothing within her wants to obey and function correctly. Perhaps this was a trap and in this moment of spellbinding, Lihli would die.

Perhaps not.

In a blink, the mysterious bloodhound disappears leaving the frail girl with only an instant memory. She blinks, numerous times, body releasing from its bonds as her light gaze shifts slowly amongst the trees. Fear rakes her for he could be anywhere with his sorcery, hiding amongst the shadows and waiting for the opportune moment to take her life. Part of her prayed that this moment had all been some strange fantasy while the other part of her felt that the dream had been all too short. She finds herself shaking, confusion written plainly upon her simply elegant features along with relief. Her life would be spared this day, or so she truly believed. Her paws have lost their footing and so for this little while, the girl remains still. Her gaze has ceased their pathetic search of the trees surrounding her and now had fallen back to the drifting water as she attempted to catch all that just happened in a solid memory. It was all too fast, unbelievably so. For some odd reason, she feels the need to leave this place, escaping this strange occurrence.

With all the agility and speed that her breed carries, the girl turns and darts into the depths of the greenery, disappearing within the hearths of nature. Her slender form slithers amongst the trees, shifting this way and that as delicate paws drift aimlessly along the earth’s face. She is more soundless than light itself, concealing her very existing within the shadows of the oncoming eve. How time has flown? Daylight was beginning to fall and the girl could only hope to find some means of shelter within this area. Until she felt entirely out of harm’s way though, she would never stop. Lihli could still feel the heat of his gaze as it penetrated her soul. She did not know if he was sizing her up to eat or simply kill but she had felt something different there. There had to be an escape and yet it seemed like no matter how fast she ran, no matter how far she went, those eyes still lingered upon her beautiful colored bodice.

She keeps going until the stars drift into the sky winking sleepy little eyes at her as they watch from above. Then the girl slows, drifting silently towards a nearby tree. She is lost, utterly confused, shaken and out in the open. It is here though, that the exhausted femme slumps to the chilly floor of Mother Earth’s domain. Once more, her eyes drift along the darkness around her, desperate for a glimpse of those eyes to assure her that she was not imagining this ‘being watch’ sensation. After not seeing anything, the girl curls into herself, burying her simple featured face into the depths of her own fur and leaving me to wonder of the things that go bump within the night.

Little do either of us know that NeMo is not the only thing that has followed the innocent fae into the dark…
