Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She had a job! Yes, she had a very important job and she had to work hard to make sure she did not mess it up. It seemed that Meryl knew just the right way to excite her, for she was almost looking forward to stealing from the plant-eaters in the valley. He had told her just what the plant could do, that it could help heal and soothe pain... how could she say no? She still remembered Meryl's pain, after all, and had she known how to quell it, she would have. It seemed many were in pain lately, that much she had noticed. She had even seen the most kind Isola bloodied and bruised - so much pain had driven her back a little, causing her own heart to ache with worry. There were many downfalls, perhaps, to absorbing the world around her and yet, the worst of all was feeling another's pain.

Today, though, she felt no pain. The crisp air brought with it a satisfying relief from all the darkness of Diveen, and she had trailed happily behind Meryl for their journey, sniffing and pawing wearily at all th strange plants. At one point, though, she had broke free from his path and had begun to carve her own, excitedly seeking whatever odd plant Meryl had sent her to discover. It seemed the easiest way to do so was to taste small portions of the plants she discovered; some were bitter, forcing her face to wrinkle and her tongue to lash out but others were almost bland or sweet. One, though, certainly stood out and she could not help but excitedly yip when she encountered it. The taste was strange but it was the texture that separated it from the others; it was soft and yet filled with a squishy clear gel! It was exactly what he had been looking for, she was positive!

With a final check to ensure no plant-eaters needed the plant, she carefully plucked three of the fat leaves from its body before bowing in respect. She did not innately like the idea of taking from it but it would help them all, right? And that was a good thing. Surely the plant had to agree with such a thing! With her prize in tow, she took off on Meryl's path once more, tail bouncing cheerfully behind her and eyes alight with joy. She had done well! Between her teeth, she called for him over and over, tilting head head from axis to axis in order to hear his voice in the distance better - until she found him.

The moment she caught a glimpse of his peculiar brown fur, she was off like a bullet. Charging forward, she covered the distance in mere seconds before bounding around him, falling into a play bow with a yip as she dropped the plants beside him. She stared up, seeking acceptance, and found that his eyes were elsewhere. Slowly, her head tilted as her eyes moved to find whatever it is he was looking at and instantly, she rose in a panic. Before her stood another... her, well, almost at least. The stranger had distinct differences and yet, in Yin's mind, she was still alike to her for they were both of the same clan. She leaned forward, sniffing wearily and almost nervously, expecting the stranger to be from her own clan and yet... the scent rang out as strange as ever.

"This one is not knowing one of white..."

She whined beneath her breath, her ears flickering back against her skull as she recoiled backwards some two or so steps, casting an uncertain glance to Meryl. The girl's appearance had caught her off guard, more so than it should have perhaps.

"Does Meryl know one of white? Not of Diveen... this one... does not know. Not one of this one's clan... no, no."

She looked to her paws then, shaking her head slowly as she frowned, trying to work out exactly who this one was and where she had come from. There were few in Moladion, she had discovered, that hailed from the moon like she and yet... here one was. Why is it that she did not feel connected to her? Why did some part within her feel almost... threatened? Was it how close she was to Meryl?
