The Wailing One
She was tired and she longed for the borders of Taviora. She knew she shouldn’t have wasted away the day until the sun had fallen from its great domain and the moon rose in its kingdom; she wasn’t prepared to find shelter for the night but it was better than treading alone. She had managed a small crevasse that sheltered her from the cool of the breeze and by the taste on the air, a rain that was sure to fallow. At least the rain created the perfect ambiance to promote sleep.

Sweet dreams of her family filled her mind as she embraced the comforting embrace of night only to be disturbed by a sickening crack. She arose unaware of the events that was beginning to transpire as she righted herself. She tried to free herself of the suffocating substance that filled her throat and lungs from when she had stood. A glow of light not far from her drew her attention. She was not sure why she found herself making her way to the light source, but was awestruck at the display she had been greeted with.

She watched if ever so briefly as several wolves slammed their bodies into the tree that groaned against their weight and two others digging at the base of the tree. One of the males digging captured her attention; he was from her home… She knew she could aid in digging but her slight form wouldn't put a dent in the efforts to topple the tree so she made her way to his side yet aiming to stay from his space digging into the soft soaked earth desperate to help the others and to see no harm come to them.
