aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The black ess could feel her life ebbing away, could feel her hope and happiness be crushed from inside her, could feel the pain deep within her chest. She never thought she would feel pain like this again, never thought it would hurt this much, never imagined such pain as what she was feeling right now. The most important thing in her life was gone, had let her down, had destroyed her. The love of her life had left her, again. What did I do to drive him away. Did he really ever love me? Was it all a trick to destroy me, to end my life? Thoughts of grief swam through her mind and it seemed like there was no way to move on and recover this time. She had dealt with this once before and the only thing that had fixed the fae’s pain was when he returned. It seemed there was only one thing that could fix her, and he was never coming back this time.

The raven colored female curled into a tighter ball within her small den, the one she had retreated to last time she was in such a depression. She closed her yellow orbs tightly, tears leaking out on their own accord. Chenzii hated crying, it made her feel weak and helpless, even when she was alone, but she couldn’t stop the tears of utter despair from escaping. The black ess stayed like that for days, leaving her den for nothing, wallowing in her despair. She had not eaten in almost a week and her usually sleek and shiny coat was matted and dull, her bones showing through her usually thick fur that was now thinning out. She had no motivation to leave the den, and she didn’t know if anything would make her leave. She was prepared to die inside and never leave again.

Chenzii’s audettes barely twitched when a call rang through the forest, Kalgalath calling the lupines of Aurora Borealis and those outside its borders that wanted to join. Any other time the ess would immediately jump up and run to her alpha’s side, ready to do whatever his bidding may be. Chenzii didn’t plan on leaving, and she was surprised when her bodice seemed to get up on its own accord, her weak stilts pulling her out of the den. She had been in the darkness of her den for so long that the sunlight burned her eyes, and she instinctually shut them, wanting immediately to head back into the safety of her small, hidden spot. The fae shook her unkempt pelt, dirt and leaves falling out of it, but not making her look any better. She raised her head slightly, deciding she needed to go to Kal, even though it was the last thing that she wanted to do.

The ess padded slowly, grudgingly, through her home, weaving slowly through the trees towards the clearing that Kalgalath had called the wolves to. Many different scents began to reach her nares, and normally she would try to pinpoint who was there already, but not today. Today she could care less who was around and who was absent, because the only wolf she cared about would not be coming back, would never attend another pack meeting. She stayed hidden in the bushes for a few moments, mentally preparing herself to face the stares of her pack mates, not sure if she was ready to face them with the state that she was in. Maybe she should hang back and talk to Kal privately, she didn’t want him to think that she had abandoned him and the pack like he had done. She knew she could not be a coward though, and that she needed to suck it up and head into the clearing. Before she could give it any more thought she pushed through the bushes, keeping her eyes down to avoid the looks of other lupines that were already there. Familiar scents reached her nose, but she did not care enough to determine who they actually belonged to. She padded slowly towards Kal, picking her head up only to address him, ”Kalgalath” She spoke only what was necessary this time, nodded her head respectfully before hiding in a corner, away from any of the other lupines, gaze casted down again, waiting to hear Kalgalath address them so she could slink back to her den.
