this is a reminder to our british members that the european elections take place on may 22nd. you don't automatically get a vote if you're over the age of 18; you need to register first. if you haven't already registered, you can do so here: aboutmyvote.co.uk.
you can find out more about the european elections here: elections2014.eu. essentially, the british parties are as follows:
british national party/bnp (far right), united kingdom independence party/ukip (far right), conservative party/tories (centre-right), the labour party (centre-left), the liberal democrats (centre-left), the green party (left)
there's also a neat tool you can use to help you decide which party to vote for if you're not too hot with politics. this website shows you above parties' policies on a minimum of 4 key issues, but doesn't tell you which party matches which policy. you vote for the policy you prefer, and at the end the site tells you which party you should vote for based on your policy preferences. these policies are taken from the 2010 general election so they're a bit outdated and uk-focused rather than eu-focused, but they'll give you a good idea of what each party is all about: voteforpolicies.org.uk.
remember - your vote matters! no matter your opinion, make sure it's heard.
