why study history when you can live it?

those who do not learn from history
are doomed to repeat it
I smiled at Pillar. She was a very different horse from any that I knew. Her ears were all curved and looked like horns from a distance. It was pretty interesting looking. She did seem a bit caught off guard by my arrival, maybe she just wasn't expecting a mare. Doesn't matter too much. I'm a lot more pleasant than most stallions. Obviously not Sahin. He's an angel.

"Nahce ta meh ya, Pilla!" I said. I took a few steps closer. Damn, those ears are cool looking. I really have never seen anything like them. "Oh, Ah doub' ya'll've eva 'erd o mah 'ome. I's dis realeh large desat nordwes' o da ahles. Weh call i' 'ome, bu' Ah lef ages ago. Ne'er realleh looked back." Not really a lie. Truth be told I never wanted to go back. Sure, sometimes I wondered where I would be if I had been a good and proper lady and listed to Daddy. Those were mostly on those cold nights in the Arch. I had entertained the idea of going back when I'd fled Rurisk.

But I never did.

Then she asked if I wanted to know a secret. I pricked my ears and too a few more steps forward. I did not want to be a gossip. It was a bad thing. But I couldn't help myself. "'Course Ah wanna know," Slid out of my mouth. Well, I really can't hurt anyone by knowing the secrets of a stranger. They are, after all, the only ones you can trust.
