Georgie

The fish flopped at her feet, skidding across the pebbled shore and shedding droplets of water on its way. The smell was… noticeable: a strangely salty tang, nothing like the musky smells of mammalian prey. Miss… err, I mean Georgie, I see no extra fluff upon you. You may just be the most beautiful lady I have ever seen. There was no happy fluttering butterflies dancing and tickling Georgie’s nerves - she’d heard that once or twice, perhaps quite a few more times - but the satisfaction his eyes on her form brought? That she’d only felt a few times. The air was heavier now, it pushed against the lupine’s russet fur, making it feel heavier than ever. And while the atmosphere grew ever hotter - a storm threatening the dead calm heat - the river remained crystalline. Paws tucked daintily beneath her slim chest, black fringed ears sitting like crowns upon her skull, Georgie turned her jewelled orbs away from this most recent suitor. Truly, she longed to throw her head back and feel the current test her limber body, but instead she obliged the meal and took her first bite. The russet vixen’s daggers punctured the flaky flesh of the fish. She kept her poise and chewed as the salty juices trickled down her throat. Warm brown light glowed from within her jewelled eyes; Georgie swallowed the strange meat with out trouble, no nose wrinkling, just elegant and smooth.

Do you miss home? Your family? Or perhaps a better question is, why did you leave? Were you like me in and of that you wanted to lead your own path? I do hope nothing ill fated happened to you, Georgie. Akuji’s words lent her a pause from this… unique… meal. Upon the pedestal of the lady’s statuesque form, her lovely fringed face turned to face him. A stare as clear and insistent as the water was thrown upon the other red lupine. In a way she’d already given him that answer. Even as the happy smile curved her lips, Georgie had thrown her self wide open from birth to now. She’d cast her precious soul into dark crevices with about as much caution as a wolf blundering blindly into a fight. Perhaps it was her sincere and personable aura and her unquestionable beauty that had kept ill fate far at bay. A musical, sweet laugh left her maw in a lyric no less than bird song. I suppose I’ve always wanted to see more. I love my family Akuji, - and it was true, in the fiercest, most unwavering way - but they’ve never anchored me home. For the first time in their short meeting, Georgie let a more stern note drift across her speech. The family she had left behind remained as a birthmark on her heart, a testament to the very depth of devotion she had to give. Like the sun’s return after the passing of a faint cloud, the smile placed itself once more upon her features. She dipped her head, took another bite of the watery fish and shook her head in an easy going shrug. You’re very kind. it is a value thrown away almost as often as integrity. Thank you for your concern but I’ve been quite fortunate on my journey here.

But the clouds hadn’t passed, in fact they were closing in. Not eager to be caught out in a storm only to have her body thrashed by the unrelenting rain that seemed to grin in anticipation from the sky, Georgie tore another strip of flesh from her fish and shifted her weight - head tilted back to examine the sky, fluffed up her silken fur in preparation for the cold. Tell me about your family, Akuji. It’s been so long since I’ve been at privilege to that life…. It wasn’t in her voice, the odd sense of premonition - maybe it was the impending darkness that consumed the remains of blue sky - Georgie felt it herself, the crackling electricity swept through her bones. She’d spent her independence searching for the precious gems of meaning: dynamic love, fearsome interactions, whatever it may be. It was with the impression of delving into the darkest of caves presented itself that she knew there was no going back. It was much to premature to know whether good or bad but the flawless beauty was ensnared around the promise of an incomprehensible journey.
