Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Fine fibres grow black and dusky in the middle of the night. A little ball of skin and fluffy tuffs of fur hides in the brushes, rolling in the night. Where is Mother, she asks. Where is Mother, she wonders. Her silken coat smells of fire, of death and destruction. Her little eyes are shut to it all right now as she huddles, cold in the night.

"Mother," she attempts to send a call with her undeveloped voice. For lack of better knowledge, the pup whimpers. Is Mother coming? Her lonesome child awaits her.

Her child, her little "melody", waits for her to come follow. She had been carried here by another ash stained wolfess, and is now all on her own. What became of the other who had pulled her from the flames? Where is Mother? Her little mind could not process it all in her daze.

The howls of other wolves around the area made the young one wary but surprisingly very calm. If she could make it, if they could make it, then surely Mother-. . .

But she was not to know until she was able to find her again. Mother. The wolfess whose scent would become her calling and call her little Cadenza to her side. The mistress who would lick her fur and teach her as she would grow. That was Mother, and Cadenza would wait here for her.

A passing wind spoke to her senses, questioning her silently- For whom do you wait? Where is your home? Cadenza whispered her answer in silent prayers to the wind. My home is where the fire burns the grass and the warmth brings tears to my eyes. I wait upon the mistress with eyes aflame, my mother. Talking with the wind gave her a new sense of direction and calm, allowing her little body to naturally rest into the settlement of early foliage dotting the ground with the arrival of true spring.
