Much as he had done with Braylen; Lyden just stops and stares. Skylar couldn’t help but smile knowing that he would have some sort of shocked reaction. If it hadn’t been for the pain she would have felt the same way when the second foal had escaped her body. All of it made sense now on how she had grown and gotten much bigger than ever before. But it wasn’t a conversation she wanted to ever bring up; keeping it tucked away that only a mother should know.


The blue roan woman only stands and watches as Lyden moves forward to meet his daughters. As Meradith retreats to nurse Moonshine stands and stares at him as if he is some sort of strange creature she is unsure of. Giving a few wide eyed blinks she turned and shoved in beside her sister to nurse greedily alongside her. Skylar remained quiet all the while as Lyden steps over to stand alongside her and after a few hesitating seconds the mare leans over so that her shoulder is placed heavily against his. The warmth his body gave off against her still wet skin makes a sigh escape her lips and the mother closes her eyes for just a moment. Should she have left her eyes closed any longer she would have fallen asleep where she stood which wouldn’t have been good for the children.


“Help me farther inland” she says softly. “I’m not sure how much farther I can go.” The twins needed to be in the warm clutches of the Forest, not on the beach where the wind could cut through their baby fur so easily. The burning sensation in Skylar’s chest was growing after the swim and it was making it hard to breath but the mother would press on and only when the foal’s were in the warmth of the trees would she finally rest.
