PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

YOU LEFT ME IN THE DARK, Mouse

IMPAZIENZA

Selfish.

Mouse’s selfless, seemingly-effortless sharing shamed Impa further, and she listened to her small friend speak without hearing any passive-aggressive emphasis or blatant accusation in the grullo’s tone. Instead the half-blind draft was shown soft eyes and a neutral, rhythmic voice, which was more than she could claim to have greeted Mouse with. Impa recalled her friend’s persistent amnesia when the two had first met and felt glad for the grullo, happy that the sturdy mustang had found answers for herself, and felt even more guilt drape invisibly over her black withers as Mouse declared the Peak as her home— more home to her than the family she had discovered in some land away from the Islands.

The moment to apologize had passed, it seemed, and Impa felt even more awkward now. “Well,” she said, as much to fill the silence between them as to hear her voice again. Maybe if she spoke enough it would slip out on its own, and she wouldn’t have to think about it or admit that her attitude was not becoming for a Prime Minister, much less a friend.

“I’m glad you found your family, although it is unfortunate your herd was... well.” Impa flicked her tail and flattened her ears in frustration. Even extending condolences was difficult, and it shouldn’t have been. I’ll be damned if I wait another ten years for an apology, especially if this is something I do have the power to fix, she thought to herself. Impa took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, then lifted her ears to point them at Mouse. Making eye contact was too intimidating at the moment, so Impa settled for moving her gaze around the grullo’s strong, flat-planed face.

“Look. I’m sorry. I’m... Everyone keeps leaving me, on the Peak, and I— Mouse, I didn’t actually think I’d ever see you again. It’s hard. I’m not... not trying to excuse myself, because I’ve been an ass to more mares than just you, and I shouldn’t have been, but I’m just—” Impa cut herself off, irritated at her inability to speak clearly and succinctly for the first time in years, and huffed out a short snort. She lifted her dark eye to Mouse’s and held her friend’s gaze for a brief moment before glancing away again. “I am glad that you’re home,” she said in a small voice.
