The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I Want a Flood; I Want an Ocean, to Wash my Confusion Clean

The adolescent followed his mother in silence, two of his brothers nearby. The family of white lupines was finally heading home. Or that was what mother said anyways. Home to a pack that the young brute had never seen, had never been to, had only heard about. He had no idea what to expect from pack life, and especially from the alpha that he had heard so much about. If he was honest with himself he was nervous. But he would never admit that around his brothers, especially Ame. The young male didn’t know if his brother could tell, but Aimery had always looked up to Ame. Even though they were from the same litter Ame had always seemed like the natural leader of their group, and Aimery had always wanted to be like his brother. His bright green orbs flickered to the white pelt of the other teen for a moment as he trailed behind his mother a bit, listening in silence to the conversation that the two had.

The white brute pricked his ears when he heard his mother talking about Kershov again and he quickened his pace until he was in stride with Ame, glancing behind him for a moment at his brother Arnou whose smaller form was trailing behind the other three. Aimery did not understand why Arnou was so much smaller than himself and Ame. The three had all been born of the same litter and Aimery and Ame were growing like weeds, almost as tall as their mother now, yet Arnou stayed much smaller than them. He hated to think that there could be something wrong with one of his brothers, but he had no explanation for Arnou’s smaller bodice. His attention was focused back to his mother though, to listen to the words that he was sure would be important once they arrived at Abendrot. When he heard his mother talk about trying to be a warrior and then being taken advantage of and attacked outside of the pack anger boiled inside him like red hot fire. If only he could figure out who had hurt her, he would make them pay for the pain and sorrow that they had caused her. A growl rumbled from his throat for a moment when she spoke about her past. She assured them that Kershov had cared for her and that made the teen feel gratitude towards the lupine he had not even met yet, but he already felt like he owed a debt to the brute.

When the family reached the borders of the pack Verity stopped and Ame was the first to speak, asking if they should howl to announce their presence. Aimery sat silently beside his brother when their mother said they would wait for Kershov instead and by that time Arnou had reached them, nuzzling his smaller form up to Verity’s side. Aimery’s green orbs looked around, waiting to see the form of Kershov or any other lupines approaching them. Waiting to see what would happen to them all next.
