aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

He had spent a lot of time with Chenzii after the pack meeting for it was her that he was most worried about. Twice now she had been left by her mate without a word... Just thinking of it brought a sour anger to Kalgalath's heart. Nika had done it to him... And when she had finally returned with an explanation, Kalgalath had chosen Zig instead. But then, unexpectedly, Zig had done the exact same thing to him, disappearing without warning. It had wounded him deeply that she had left him, but at the same time it had raised an ire within him that she had left both their adopted daughter Blayre and their pack. Blayre had been inconsolable at first, and he wondered if she now would ever be able to consider Zig a mother. After all, it had been Kalgalath who had found her, raised her as his own. Zig had come into the picture at a much later time and then had left at the most crucial of times. Their daughter - his daughter - had grown up and was now quite the feminine teenager. He was waiting for the sassy and bossy countenance renowned of teenagers to set in and was thankful that so far she had not become so.

Zig had yet to return to their den to sleep and Kalgalath was not surprised. They had much to discuss, and though he had out on a brave face in front of the pack, he was still wounded by her actions and needed answers. He wondered, if she had returned to their den, would he have welcomed her in to sleep with him and Blayre? It was not a question he desired to linger on for long. Not only because he dreaded his own answer, but because he knew that soon enough, Blayre would be searching out her own den. She was a young woman now, and it was becoming unsuitable for her to sleep in her father's den. The mottled brute sighed and shut his lids tightly... Though he would worry about her and miss her slender petite frame, he would relish the opportunity to have more alone time with his mate.

If indeed she was still his mate.

He trusted her, or at least he had. He wanted to think the best of her, not think that she had left him for another.... But she HAD left him. He needed answers. He needed to know why she had left, especially since the last thing he had said to her before she had disappeared was that he wanted to sire pups by her. Did the idea of a family frighten her? Did she not want pups at all?

Slowly, almost timidly, he crawled from his hidden grove, tinges of pain coming to him as he inhaled the faded scents of his mate. He did not want to meet her here... He couldn't meet her here. Trotting down the steep slope, he strode through the bubbling stream, enjoying its cooling current on such a hot summer night such as thing. Pausing, he dipped his cranium to lap up some water for he found his throat had gone dry. Wasting no more time, he continued his travels up the order side of the ravine and traveled to the open clearing, silent in his thoughts and leapt onto the rock where he had stood with her at the pack meeting. A low, soft croon emitted from his maw and he wondered whether she would hear it at all. Was she even awake? Would she even come?
