Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

He couldn't help but think that he liked the way she laughed -- the way it rolled from deep within her chest, like a low thundering rumble. Sawyer could find nothing feminine about her, and yet she was such a captivating figure. He was content to sit and chat with her a while, even if he knew quite well that his wandering ways would eventually urge him on to more interesting things.

For now, though, this she-wolf was proving to be the most interesting thing he'd come across in a long while.

Sawyer felt his lips lifting into a disgusted grimace, the corners of his mouth pulling down to reveal the furthest reaches of his clenched teeth. He allowed this question of hers to sink in, taking a few seconds to mull over what he'd heard and allow it to register in his brain. For a moment, he felt as if perhaps he'd misheard her question. Sawyer leaned a little closer and squinted his eyes, grinning. "...Eat? Have I heard of someone eating the flesh of another wolf?"

He laughed, a quick chirp of disbelief. He was horrified, sure -- but he was also deeply, deeply intrigued. His ears were perked, eyes piercing, face contorted into morbid delight. Of course he had known wolves who were blood-lusty, always starting fights and showing off their brawn. But this was something else.

"Eating," he repeated, "As in, chewing and swallowing and digesting chunks of other wolves?" His voice cracked a little, but there was a fire of macabre curiosity and awe in his eyes.

"No," he laughed, finally, shaking his head. "No I haven't heard of such a curse before."

It piqued his interest. He would love to witness such an act, simply for the fact that he was a naturally curious beast. Sawyer's hedonistic selfishness was not always innocent. At times his search for new and exciting things to entertain himself with would take him to dark and unfortunate places..

"To be honest, I have no idea where I am or where I go." He flashed a coy smile, inclining his head carefully. "Maybe I ought to be more careful, wandering into a place like this where wolves starve themselves and eat each other." He was teasing her, and it was plain in his face. Should she invite him along, she had already attracted his curiosity by a long shot, and he would have followed her anywhere.

That said, if she decided to go on her way and leave him be, he would just as happily go on with his lonesome ambling journey to nowhere. In the end, Sawyer only truly cared for one creature on the living earth -- and it would always be himself.
