aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

A dreadful rage had consumed him, one that he had only shown once before – when the Prince of Malignant Felicity had stolen away one of his packmate’s pups. He had tried to commit a kindness to Kohaku by taking her away from Nikandros, but it had all backfired and in the end, it had all gone wrong. Nikandros had decided he would go through any lengths to get her back and Kohaku had decided to be with him. All it had brought the pack was stress and danger. In true, Kalgalath simply wanted to help everyone and when he had first became an Alpha, he thought that one of his tasks would be to help those in need. That naivety had long since faded, replaced by the knowledge that sometimes the best way was the hardest way – not everyone could be saved, not every relationship gone array could be salvaged. It was with this sad thought, this confusing, aggravating thought that he was now plagued. He and his mate Zig had had a disagreement, one in which she had stated in not so many words that she would challenge him for his position and take Aurora Borealis from him.

The brute had had feelings for her for a long while before he had asked her to become his mate, and it was only after she had opened up to him and trusted him that he had done so. That time, it seemed, had passed, and she no longer trusted him to help her with her problems. She had left him, their daughter, and the pack without a word of explanation and when she had returned, had blamed it on him. She had said he had done nothing to help her – but she had not let him help her. Their fight had been full of angry words, accusations, threats… it had not been pretty, nor had it been anything Kalgalath had ever expected would enter their relationship. But it had.

Fuming, trying to decide his next course of action, he had decided to seek out his daughter to spend some time with her and found that her scent had crossed the boundary. Tracking her, he had found a blood trail leading back into the boundary… and that was when a scent barely known to him crossed his nares. Flaring nostrils inhaled deeply as his bodice froze, his vomeronasal organ tasting the scent , trying to match it with a memory. It seemed foggy, as if it was just an acquaintance, when suddenly it all came rushing back to him. When he had first arrived, this scent had been present at the border, only stronger. His dear friend Kong had told him the past of the pack… and about Cody. Zig’s Cody. Lips raising, he growled and ran toward the scent, coming upon its source not too far into the packland. The scene set before him surprised him – Aindreas, Blayre, Zig, and Cody all together. He stopped briefly to listen to the words being said, first on Aindreas’ part, being overly protective of his little sister, and then Zig’s response. Aindreas. I recommend that you calm yourself down this instant before I calm you down myself. That’s an order from the Queen of Aurora. I will not tolerate such hostility in my home. I don’t know how they do things over in Munashii Gekko, but here, we’re civilized. Aindreas’ deep vocals countered hers immediately, his tone respectful but his words less so. This is my sister, I have every right to question the actions of a stranger around my sister, especially when she is injured. Had you been around, you would know I no longer inhabit Munashii, and that I have reason to worry about strangers in Aurora after what happened with Khaleesi. My Queen. He fell silent with the slightest of bows as Zig snapped her daggers at him threateningly, causing a growl to raise in Kalgalath’s chest.

Exiting the dense grove of trees that had briefly hidden his form, he walked rigidly onto the scene as Zig began to comfort Blayre. Her words were addressed toward Cody next and, unseen, Kalgalath stood to stand by his son, pressing against him gently, showing that he supported the words Aindreas had spoken. Though they had had a rough start in life, the King trusted him completely. His arctics softened as he looked upon Blayre. “Sweetheart, your cut looks like it should be looked at. Remember Hellene, who helped you feel better when you were just a pup? She can surely help you. Maybe Aindreas would take you to her so that you two can spend some time getting to know each other better? I know you haven’t had much time for that lately.” Aindreas smiled fondly at Blayre – that had been the whole point of his trip to Aurora Borealis today – to see her. He knew she should not be present for what was about to occur either… Did you get that hunting? After being so close to her, his nares had picked up on the scent of a stag. If you wish, I can help teach you how to hunt so you don’t get hurt like that. His normally rough and raspy vocals were smooth for once as he tried to lead her away from the scene.

After waiting to see what Blayre’s response would be, Kalgalath turned to face Cody and Zig, just in time to see her lick his cheek. “Cody, I presume.” Gone was the soft pretense, gone was his polite, caring tone. “Zig, you had told me that Cody was out of your life. I see that is not entirely true. As for you, Cody, you are not part of this pack and have no right to be within these borders without permission. I suggest you leave. Now. Before I drag you out.” His glare turned upon Zig. “We need to have a serious discussion. Now.” How he managed to keep his vocals from turning into a yell was beyond him, but he did, each word being delivered quietly but with no less poison or threat. "You said you would not step down... Nonetheless. I think it is time for you to leave." The words were ones he never wanted to say. All he had ever wanted for her was happiness and to replace the painful memories of Cody with happy ones of him and Blayre. But sadly, their love had come to this. Her actions had brought them to this.
