ONLY THE STRONG WILL SURVIVE

MAGNUS frowned slightly at Pilar’s suggestion that he might have a better idea of what the markings might say. The spotted boy believed Pilar was very clever and deep so if she could not find the meaning behind the strange markings, he would stand little chance either. He hoped perhaps it would be a case of two eyes are better than one though and maybe, if they compared their respective notes, they might find a least part of the link. He had studied the bay markings carefully so if he could just find some other identical ones that would match them, he might be a step closer to the meaning. Finding a pattern was much easier than deciphering a code where all aspects were slightly different.

AS Pilar turned to lead him to the markings, he became distracted by their surroundings and asked her about it. Although she had mentioned the ridge before, he couldn’t recall her saying she actually lived there and he wasn’t entirely sure that’s where he actually was – although the parapet he’d arrived on should have been a dead giveaway.

HE nodded at her explanation, finally taking the cue to follow her towards wherever the markings were, “Mmm, I’ve seen them from the shore of bay” he murmured, seemingly agreeing that the thunderstorms were, indeed, nasty. At least the rain would be warm though and he must admit he rather liked thunderstorms so long as he had somewhere safe to view them from.
