Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

How many years had it been since the dark wolfess had stepped foot on Moladion soil? Five years? Six? Dusk had long since lost count. She never thought she would return and yet here she was. The many years spent wandering unknown lands had taken its toll on the once beautiful wolfess. Her dark, glossy fur was filthy and tattered. The eyes that once shined with a bright, green glow were now dull and lifeless. She was far too skinny for her own good. Things had been hard for Dusk when she left to find her mother. When she found her, dead and gone, there wasn't much left for the wolf other than to get lost in the world.

Wandering aimlessly had brought her home again. But was there still a home to return to? Had Sulan remained loyal to her? What had become of her beloved children? It was questions like these that made Dusk not want to come home. She had been so cruel to her mate by leaving him with their children. He must have worried so much about her. Maybe he had found another who would be able to take better care of him.

Dusk wandered alone as her paws carried her into Moladion. She wasn't aware of where she was going. It must have been her heart that dragged her towards him. They were not imprints but they were still bound by love stronger than even that. Her heart wanted him so desperately it would seek him out until the day she died.

So when she spotted him there, on the other side of the lake, it took all she had not to run in the other direction. How could she face him like this? A malnourished, tattered mess of a wolf. And yet, her paws carried her forwards until she stood before him. Nothing was said for a long time. When the silence hung too heavily in the air Dusk took a step forward, but hesitated. "Sulan... I..." What could she say?

It was then that her body decided to remind her about how long it had been since her last meal. The shock of seeing her mate made her limbs grow weaker and she suddenly fell to the ground in a pathetic heap of dirty fur. How she must look to him. Why didn't he leave her here? Surely he hadn't waited. He had a better life now. Right?
