Danny saw Thoth's sudden grin through his haze of concentration as he worked out how to acquire the needed syringes and smiled absently back. Had he been able to read Thoth's mind in that moment, and picked up on the image of Khasekhemwy with a lady, he would have collapsed into a fit of giggles that would have surely drawn unwanted attention to them. Danny liked Khasekhemwy a lot, but there was no denying his mentor was a bit... different. At least if he'd had a companion, Danny wouldn't have had to worry over him and his magic-less living quite as much! Danny nodded at Thoth's comment about the academy, working to hide his own frown. Now that they had a plan, he was ready to get started on it. Still, there was no way he'd be able to walk all the way down to the Academy and back in a reasonable amount of time, and after the last time he'd been caught outside in the dark... Danny's face paled a bit at the memory, but he shook it off the lingering fear as best he could. That had been a freak accident, an animal escaped from the Marsh or something, and he couldn't let himself stay afraid. There would be times he'd be roused from bed in the dead of night to help with emergencies and injuries, and he couldn't let fear keep him inside when he was needed.

"Tomorrow works," he answered after a second, nodding. "It'll give me time to get the stuff from your workshop too. About this time? Well, maybe a little earlier, if I don't stop by to see..."

Danny stopped himself abruptly, clearing his throat. The grief was subsiding a bit now, just enough for Danny to feel a bit shy about his almost daily visits to Elle's grave. Though Danny usually got along fine with most people, he didn't have many he counted as close friends. Visiting Elle's grave gave him a chance to talk to her, to pretend she was still around, and he knew there were some who would think it a rather unhealthy habit to get into every day. Thankfully, Thoth's playful familiar distracted him.

Morveren's sharp little teeth dug into Sol's tail, the tip of which was rather sensitive, and the big tiger gave a little grunt of surprise. He tried to wiggle the appendage free, but Morveren was stubborn - even more so now that Thoth was trying to reign her in - and he had no luck. At Thoth's sudden exclamation, both boy and tiger turned to look at him in confusion. It became immediately apparent what he was doing, though, as Morveren suddenly dashed about the infirmary and squealed all the while. Danny and Sol exchanged glances, both trying to restrain their laughter. They failed as she dashed into the corridor, followed by Thoth's shrugging comment.

"Best thing I've seen all night," Danny said, his expression visibly lighter than it had been before.

"She's crazy!" Sol said, but in a vaguely admiring sort of way. It was clear the big tiger had decided the aqua-fox was now his new best friend.
