"I'd help!" Danny said earnestly. Now that the idea had planted itself in his head, it was something he wanted to work for and make sure it happened. Whatever seriousness he'd managed to gain crumpled immediately though, his own giggle escaping. Like Renn, the more he thought of the incident the more it seemed hilarious. Hearing Renn laugh was contagious, too, so it only increased his mirth. Gasping for breath, and wiping away the tears escaping from the corner of his eyes, Danny nodded emphatically. "Onion chopping is definitely a Flynn job from now on."

Danny collapsed to the ground, rolling around a bit at Renn's imitation, particularly when she picked up Nico. Then he pictured Flynn walking in on this little scene, and he giggled even harder, until he was clutching his ribs and gasping for breath. It took him a bit to calm himself, and he sprawled on the ground to catch his breath. His just-slightly-evil grin mirrored hers as he nodded eagerly. "And if he resists, Sol can lick his feet until he agrees."

"I'm in!" Sol chipped in immediately. The idea of tickle-torturing Flynn was a rather delightful one, he thought.

As the grand pie debate wrapped up, Danny and Renn turned their attention to their names. Danny perked up, eager to hear the stories. The memories of their father were still bright and crystal-clear in Danny's mind, preserved by a love that would only grow with him, but it was... special, to hear Renn speak about what she remembered too.

"I didn't know that about your name!" he said. Though he was a bit clumsy with drawing on paper, his mind had already sketched a picture of their great-grandmother in his mind's eye. She would have been pretty, he thought, and smart. Maybe she was an artist, like Renn. Or a noble fighter, like he always thought of Flynn as. "My friend Torram said his mom called him 'Bunny' for the first year of his life, cuz they couldn't pick a real name." Danny giggled at that, just as he'd done when Torram grudgingly admitted it to him earlier that week. "At least they didn't do that to Flynn!"

Danny beamed, flushed with pleasure, and tried to look as though it didn't mean that much to him even though it did. He was glad his horrible day had sent him home early, or he would have missed out on this time with her. It was while Renn was distracted that he finally spoke aloud.

"Oh Aura," Renn said in response, and Danny felt his heart stop. Not because of the words, but because of the expression on her face and the tears in her familiar blue-green eyes. His fingers tangled together before he could stop them, his expression so nervous and regretful one would think he'd just announced he'd accidentally killed a beloved pet. And then, she did the worst thing she could have ever done: she started to cry. Danny made a noise of immediate dismay, torn between the desire to run away and the overwhelming need to comfort one of the most important people in his life.

"I-I-I'm sorry, Renn, I didn't..." Danny shrugged helplessly, awkwardly patting her shoulder. She calmed after awhile, and Danny couldn't stop himself from looking relieved. He would have told her not to worry about it, that he didn't need to know, but... But something stopped him. He needed to know why Renn was crying, why Felix would make her cry.

Danny looked up at her, so overwhelmed he could feel his own lower lip trembling in response. In confusion, and with great concern, he turned to Solarius at Renn's question about the cheetah. Truth be told, he'd been too busy trying to figure out why Felix had looked vaguely familiar to pay much attention to the animal, but Sol had studied him rather closely.

"Yes, ah, I think so," said Sol, sounding far more subdued than he'd been in days.

"Henry?" Danny squeaked. Gods, he was such a jerk! Such a dumb jerk, to bring up the one person who'd hurt Renn so bad! He hadn't known any better, but... But that wasn't an excuse. Danny hugged his sister, not sure what else to do, while his mind raced. He wasn't a jerk! That big dumb, dummyhead Henry was the jerk! He made Renn worry, and cry, and... and he lied! He lied right to his face! Danny shot Sol a dark look over Renn's shoulder, finding a mirror for his own emotions on Sol's face.

"Well... He's definitely not dead..." Danny said hesitantly, patting her shoulder again and wishing, desperately, that he had something more to add.
