It pains me greatly when I turn to leave. The idea of leaving her leaves my soul protesting, and as much as I would like to give in to its demands to stay, I cannot. I must return to Asteraia, and she must go wherever it is she must. I would ask her to come with me, but I do not want her to feel like she has to. I feel so torn, every part of me is fighting to stay with her but I cannot. I feel as if I will have to rip myself away from this day, but it will only be temporary for I will find her again if it kills me. I would find a way to break into heaven to get my angel Everlyse.
I am pleased when she hurries to my side, her touch easing my torn soul. She playfully nips my shoulder, making me return the gesture with a playfully hip bump. I soon begin to move, but slowly, trying to prolong this as long as possible. I don't want to leave her, and each step makes me sadder and sadder as I reach the exit of our small little cave into the main cave.
I guide her back through my shadows until we reach the pit where I stop once again at the tug of my fur. "Be safe," she whispers to me. I cannot help by smile, because I can hear how she cares for me in her voice. I gently turned to her and nodded before nuzzling into her reassuringly. I would never do anything reckless, anything to leave her unless I was dying to protect her. I will never fall into that abyss, I will stay by her side.
She smiles sadly at me, burying her body into mine. "I don't want to leave," she says, and there is an unspoken you following those words evident in her eyes. Then she does something I never expected, she steps forward and gently licks my cheek. I look at her, stunned by her actions as she grins back at me. My heart thrumming in my chest at unbelievable speed. I blink away the surprise and smile back at her.
I move slowly and carefully over the pass, making sure to keep her close to me at all times. When we make it to the other side, I let out a breathe of relief, looking at her with a sad smile because our time was almost over. My heart felt like it had twisted as I looked back as saw the light of the opening.
I moved again, keeping her close to me until we reach the entrance and I stop. I cannot move any farther. On impulse, I turn and bury my head into her chest, my way of saying I don't want you to go. Her warmth, her scent, I don't want to miss any of it. I will find her again, no matter what. I look up to her, a sadness in my eyes. 'I will find you again,' I mouth slowly, offering a sad, reassuring smile.
Yes, my angel Everlyse, I will find you again.
