The Grotto
Disaster has struck!

There is a comfortable companionship between Aithne and Vesper. The kind that she has not felt between herself and another in quite a long time. When Malikye had taken a liking to her she had merely felt amusement in his presence and a tension. The wondering at all times if he was suddenly going to snap and try to kill her. Aithne would not have gone down without a vicious fight. She was no prey animal to be slaughtered and swallowed. That is clear by the bulk of her body and by the way she moves, not with grace but with the primitive knowing of one's body and capabilities. It is not cockiness that makes her seem such but a complete confidence. Aithne is not a killer but neither is she an innocent. The jest that Vesper offers her is met with a sudden grin that is shared between them. It is rare, this grin, for Aithne is not one to often find amusement or such relaxation with another. If she had to think on it then she could honestly say she had no true friends in Molodian. She had never had any true friends to begin with. Her mother had been a weak willed creature without the wit to care for a child she had birthed but she wondered if she had sucked such things out of her mother when she had left the womb? "They are not ideal," she agrees with her statement, her eyes twinkling. Hunting in the swamps was a risky affair. There was a chance a fish or a turtle languished in the water below but just as equal a chance a gator lurked. They were far different from each other and something one did not want to make the mistake in 'finding'. Vesper is intelligent. Aithne had not had much chance to speak like a scholar, never claimed to be one, but she found she was engrossed in their comparisons. It is hard to compare such creatures without having tasted them but she would make do as Vesper was, using their own rich descriptions to fill in the blanks. It would make things fun for when she did one day visit the sea and taste of it's fruits. "I suppose, but not thick enough for my fangs." Again that grin, a flash of her teeth in her first ever boast along with a deep rumble of a chuckle in her chest. "The fish are not my favorite and hunting them is not easy in the dark water. I might end up alligator bait so I avoid such things." She is not foolish enough to think herself above the chain of predators. A slip and she could easily become prey, but it was her own brains that kept her from such a fate. Her ears perked up once more now, her eyes alight with interest. "I would like that. You are welcome in the swamps as well, Vesper, though you must call for me at the border. Andras is rather... particular. You presence would be safer as my guest. I could show you how to kill a gator, if you are prepared to get a little dirty." A teasing gleam is in her eye now. It seems that Aithne has found her first friend.
