You could say I was a little surprised by who I found waiting outside my den on this day. Its not everyday Enderly comes to pay a visit, sneaking into Iromar just to see me; which is extremely suspicious, because Enderly is not the type to risk his hide over anything unless its something he deems important. But what he had for me today, was something I could have never expected in a million years. Enderly was always surprised me, but this would take the cake, no contest whats so ever. I never could have guessed that he would be bringing me a niece I never knew existed.
I was out when he made his way in with the silent pup who put up not a single fight. Luckily for him though, I was headed back to my den for the day, hoping to find Astaroth there. Even luckier for Enderly was the fact that Astaroth would not be there upon their arrival and mine, so they would not be attacked for trespassing onto demon soil. I kept a quick, graceful gait as I practically glided back to the den, totally unprepared for the surprise in store when I arrived.
As I drew near, I started to pick up Enderly's familiar scent and the scent of another unfamiliar to me, causing me to slow my pace and proceed with caution and suspicion. I moved silently, coming up behind him so that he would not know of my arrival. Enderly was a wolf of lies and games, so he could be here for any number of reasons. As the two came into my view, my ears suddenly flicked forward as he called out my name with that silken voice of his. My eyes narrowed out of suspicion, until they locked upon a small female pup under one of his paws, making them widen suddenly. I quickly hurried out behind them, appearing like a phantom in the fog.
"Enderly," I say, greeting my friend with a small smile as I reveal myself from the brush behind them.
"This is a surprise, although i've yet to decide if its good or bad," I say, letting him in on my suspicion. I moved closer to him, my silver gaze watching him with a curiosity before falling to the pup under his paw.
"Why on earth do you have a pup?" I asked, because there was no way in Hell is belonged to him. I gently moved towards him, bumping him slightly with my body to get him to release the pup. When he did, the small girl scurried to all fours, looking up at me with a smile and a tail wag.
And then it hit me, the scent upon her own fur. I would recognize it anywhere, it even haunted my own dreams: Kaius. My eyes widened as I looked down at her, down into her silver eyes and her face that looked a lot like his. No no no no, there is no possible way. She bounded closer to me, standing up on my leg and tilting her head curiously. I nearly took a step away from her, vomited up my own lunch, but I remained frozen in place.
"Theres.....theres no way," I whisper, still looking down at the child in shock.
Suddenly my eyes shoot up to Enderly, a fierce mistrust in them as they narrow at him.
"Enderly, why have you brought her to me? Why do you even have her is a better question,"maybe i'm over reacting a bit, but this is all too much to take in at one time. I had a niece! Kaius had a daughter, possibly more children somewhere. The small pup yips at me at I look down at her as she smiles, and it is the most precious thing. There is no way this pup could belong to Kaius, but there was no denying the fact either. I laid down, allowing a fierce mothering instinct to take over as I wrap my neck protectively around the little girl.
At this closeness, I could smell the ocean upon her pelt, and I am given to wonder if she belongs to Glorall, if that's where her mother resides. The puppy curls up between my paws and cuddles into me, making me smile down at her.
"You've brought me a niece, i'm not particularly sure how I feel about this," I say to Enderly, offering him the smallest of smiles because I could not stay mad at him for too long.
