aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

I am sorry. The words, which may have seemed insignificant and worthless if they had come from almost any other, were filled with meaning when coming from Kong. In truth, if they had come from another, they would have been utterly pitiful, a weak attempt both at sympathy and empathy, and a complete lack of understanding of the situation. But thus was not how it was with Kong, his oldest friend. The brother he had never had. Kong not only understood his current situation of heartbreak, loss, and exhaustion, but probably also understood every other situation that Kalgalath had gone through. In addition, Kong had always backed him - he had accepted him into Munashiii Gekko, he had welcomed him into Aurora Borealis, and he had backed Kalgalath when he had ran for the position of Alpha. Since he had arrived in Blossom Forest, Kong had been an integral part in every important event that shaped Kalgalath as a whole. Blayre... Nika... Zig... Aindreas... Kong had always been there. Welk I'm here for you. That could be positive or negative, depending on how you want to look at it. The words did not fix anything... but they were helpful nonetheless and brought a smile to his maw. "Having you by my side will never be a negative, my friend."

Kong smiled back at him, agreeing with Kalgalath's ideology. Though Kal had full trust in his pack, just hearing another say the words was reinforcing and relieving. I know the pack will understand whatever you want. They trust you and believe in you, just like I do. Kalgalath nodded, knowing only how true this was. His presence had become scarce many times, mainly when he had taken in Kohaku at her request... that had turned into a difficult situation in which she had pushed against his rules and refused the very help she had so desired. Watching over her as he watched over his own child... But that was who he was - constantly trying to help and heal others in whatever way he could. His smile grew as he thought back to the day that he had met Blayre - still blind and deaf, newly born but abandoned by the cascades. With Hellene's help, he had saved her and subsequently adopted her as his own. Perhaps he was trying to make amends for how he had unknowingly abandoned his own pups while they were still growing within Nika's womb, or for failing Aindreas so fully in his adolescence.

As for a distraction, want to go on a hunt with me? As if on cue, his stomach rumbled and vaguely Kalgalath tried to remember the last time he had eaten... it was before the fight he had had with Zig. Though he was not yet overly thin, the extra layer of fat that he would certainly need to see him warm throughout the winter was nonexistent. "I would. Let us go and see what prey awaits us at..." His arctics turned in the direction of Prey Plateau and settled upon a femme who stood not too far away. Kong's next set of words washed over him without much effect. There's no trace of her so I guess she's moved on. I've been better but I've also been worse. I'll heal.

Kalgalath grunted, a noncommittal response and instead he gestured toward the stranger. She was an intruder upon his lands, unwelcomed by the lack of an invitation. Studying her, he noted her healthy coat and knew that she must have come from another land. With the coming winter, prey had migrated and grown scarce unless you knew where to search for them. But what really caught his focus was that her orbs were glued upon Kong. Her muds seemed to see only him, her body leaning forward ever so slightly, but something, no doubt Kalgalath's presence, kept her from doing so. He wondered if she, like Cody, had once been a member of this pack before Sin had died and the pack had been transferred into his care. If she was as single minded as she currently seemed to be, there was the slight possibility that she had not noticed that his scent surrounded the terra as a whole... though at the moment his border was thin. Today was the first in a long while that he had made his rounds, remarking the border, so such a situation was entirely plausible.

A soft smile played upon her lips and Kalgalath noted that she was beautiful... and the way she looked at Kong... could it...be...?

Striding toward he, he smiled, relaxed, though his tail did curl over his dorsal proudly. "Hello there, miss. I am Kalgalath, the Alpha of these lands. Am I correct in assuming that you were under the belief that another still led here? If so, I regret to inform you of Sin's passing." His vocals were deep, full of sympathy, knowing how devastating this information may be for the stranger.
