From the little time they had spent together, Sleekwing could almost predict how Astrid was going to react to the offer of fish. It was what had prompted him to lay out the invitation to the mass hunt that was being planned for the coming autumn. It was that and his desire to see the two wolves again after this day. For a long time he had spent his days alone on the mountain, not sulking, but also not seeking any other wolf’s company. It was only in the last year that that pattern had finally broken. With his sister’s ascension to the throne, the birth of his children, and his blossoming friendship with Natu, his shell had been peeled back and he had become a social being once more. And even though Astrid was prickly in nature and her brother a complete opposite of that, he fully enjoyed keeping their company. His tail waved back and forth over the water as Astrid gave her reply from back closer to shore, though at least her paws were in the water. “It would be my pleasure,” he said with a nod of his head, before he was distracted by the commotion of Hollowpoint splashing out to join him. He chuckled at the behemoth’s relaxed determination. Sleekwing turned his own eyes to the water, but the ripples created by the larger wolf’s tromping about made it near impossible to spot anything other than his broken reflection. Heather ears flitted backwards at Astrid’s words, and a small smile creased his features, amused by their ever-bantering relationship. Even though it was futile, he kept up the search as a ruse, simply moving about in the water to feel it caress his sides. Truly he was watching Hollowpoint’s antics more so than actually looking for a fish. When he dove down as if to grab a fish Sleekwing’s brows lifted in amusement. Of course moments later that look was sodden and dripping wet. A raucous laugh burst forth and suddenly the ten year old was romping about as if he were three again. He splashed about with Hollowpoint, edging his way inland somewhat to make it easier to move through the water. Without warning he raked his front paw through the water and flung it at Astrid, hoping to catch her off guard. He flashed her a dashing smile, daring her to join in on the fun, before turning back to Hollowpoint and giving chase. His mere movement through the pond flung water in all directions, and the two males were both surely well drenched by this point. |
