It is true that Achlys is a lovely girl. Shivershade does have a taste for beautiful women and even as he gazes down at her for the half second it takes before she pushes herself up, clearly displeased at the placement of his paw, his tongue darts out to lap across his lips while his eyes feast on her lazily. The richness of her fur would feel good against his maw, he thinks, though she would have to take a bath. She smelled rather rank and death clutched to her. What was it about these creatures that drew her in? He had seen some wolves that had some mental issues, believing the dead were alive and such, and it would no be surprising if one as stunning as Achlys was crazy. The crazy ones were almost ALWAYS enchanters. Unless they were males, then they just looked like maniacs. That was possibly because he was biased, but no one had to know right?
He blinks down at her as she speaks to him. Clearly she is agitated at his movement; did she think he would steal her food? Because, honestly, that is what he has come to do. As lovely as she was it was doubtful that anything could ever happen between them so he has nothing to prove to her. All she can offer him is the food she dishonors by playing with it.
Even as he grins roguishly down at her another figure makes itself known, claws scraping across the ground and the hushed breath a sigh into the air. Shade turns his maw slowly towards the boy with his ears turned back and his tail stiffening as he stares at the young boy. His smile is more feral now, revealing one fang and crinkling his lips while his eyes narrow. "Then I suppose she will just have to be disappointed," he states abruptly before reaching down swiftly to grab the bird between his teeth. Achlys could show her favor to this slip of a boy if she liked, but his growl had only spurred Shade on. Where before she had a slim chance of saving her friend from Shivershade's theft by distracting him with her strange ways Asterion had botched them with his veiled threat.
It is not in the nature of Shiv to take such a blatant threat idly. He is not known for an even temper nor for a playful one. Whatever the boy had hoped to achieve in his moon-eyed stare at Achlys had backfired. They could assault him all they wanted but Shade was not scared of two measly children, tiny in comparison, nothing to him, lovely or not. Quickly he bites down on a wing, his claws pushing into the body and he rips upward so that a wing comes off with a snap from the dead birds corpse. Then, in the same movement, he tosses it at Achly's feet while he snarls over the rest of the body. "A token to you for your gift to me," he growls, ears laced back while his eyes snap to Asterion, clearly pinning the blame on him even as he reaches down to grab up the birds body and squishing it between his strong jaws, waiting for the explosion that would possibly come.
