The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

My paws felt heavy as I moved across the many terrains separating Taviora from the Grotto. A cold wind blew through the trees and nipped at my heels as I went. The cold had never been a bother or a burden in my youth, but I find now that there is an ache to my bones with the coming of winter. Joints creak and groan with the beginnings of arthritis, but it does little to hinder the fluid grace of my gait as I glide towards the network of caves where last I had met with the dark wraith. My Samurai King.

I can still recall the first time we had met, back in the deserts of Montagne. That seemed like lifetimes ago, and yet I could remember it with picture perfect clarity. If I had known way back then... just what was to become of us all these years later, that it had been the crimson thread of fate that made our paths cross on that fateful day.... well... maybe today I'd have ensured that the two of us would have had a happier ending.

We've been through so much together. Good and bad. Years where we flourished and others frought with strife. My poor Devil, it about broke my soul to leave him all alone, but I've been given a good dose of perspective in this last year of my complete solitude. It is true, that old saying- You Cannot See the Forest For the Trees. And yet as my vitality wanes, wisdom has come to paint the bigger picture. All that has come to pass does not matter. Only the here and now. Only what I have left of my Life. Our Lives.... for I want to spend whatever years remain in his company... to rekindle whatever might still remain of that spark that ignited between us those many years ago. That spark, that has smoldered into an undying flame no matter how many storms and downpours threatened to snuff out it's heat.

And so I come, large obsidian frame sleeker than it used to be. Lustrous color beginning to dull some with age. But harlequin eyes are sharp and clear, searching, seeking as my nose sifts through the plethora of scents for that one cologne.

The full moon peers through the trees above, and i glance towards the orb with longing. I breath a sigh, lips parting and I weave a long lonely sonata, a lyric just for him... wondering... hoping the Devil will answer.
