Arthfael
Out of the den, into the light. No one would catch him. No one would dare come after him, especially with the insanity that had been the last couple of days. Arthfael was about six weeks old now, and he was ready for bigger and better adventures. Bigger and better things. All of his siblings were flatly annoying, and nobody had time for that. They were so concerned with each other, besides. Everyone fawned over Alexander, Ankh was a girl, and there was something wrong with Alistair so every time he opened his mouth everyone ooh’ed and ahhh’ed over him. With Ifrit’s kids not having a dad anymore, things were getting more and more inattentive. Arthfael spent more and more time slipping away, running, having a grand damn time of himself.
He’d been out this way before. There was something about the sea, it called to him. Screamed his name, over and over again, more strongly than anything he’d ever heard. The creature moved overland with the confidence of a creature that had been doing this from day one… because he had. Well, day one he’d been able to get away with it. The family didn’t know where he went during the day, simply because he was on his own. Too much family, too much anything was a bad thing. Hell, any time with that hovering lot was a bad thing.
Today, there was someone else by the edge of the universe. The edge of his universe. A pup. Another pup, and this one was fucking puny. Arthfael stalks over the ground, trying to work some sneak into his gait. Step, step, step… carefully overland. Carefully, hoping that he doesn’t get noticed until he’s close enough to speak to the stranger. “Dare you to jump.” Four words. Cryptic words, sitting darkly on his tongue as his eyes glimmer in the low light.
