Naomi noted her companions lack of attention, not that she blamed him with such a beautiful sight before them. She'd be distracted as well. Turning her head, she too watches the petals twirl around on top of the water, a soft smile on her black lips before her eyes move back to his face at the same moment he finally realizes she is there. Her smile grows in amusement at the surprise on his face. It was cute.
When he moves, a pout falls upon her lips; she had liked the petals that had scattered his pale coat, one of the reasons she had been so interested in approaching him. To her, he seemed like the perfect image of spring. As her eyes roam his body she can't help but to think he seemed familiar. The boy speaks, seeming to echo her thoughts."You have?", Naomi lifts her head to meet his gaze again as she raked her brain for where they could have met. She'd only ever played with Alethi, but as she stared into his eyes she started to remember something.
'You've got real hairy legs. Like my mom.'
'My sister calls them feathers. Do you know why they call them feathers? i thought only birds have them.'
'That's silly. Horses don't have feathers.'
'We do have clouds, though.'
The image of two dark shapes came to mind, standing at the edges of the pond just like they were doing now. She remembers it had been cold, and it had been her first adventure away from home where she met a boy. While he may not be as dark as she anymore his eyes were the same. Her sister had always told her that while someone's image can change in many different ways the eyes would always remain the same.
She smiles at him again. "I remember you,"she breathes, and then stretches her neck out to nose at his pale skin, "but we don't look alike anymore."
Naomi liked his pale coat though, watching as petals once more settled on his back. |
