Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

We laughed at fate and mourned her;

Thick gray fog seemed to grow heavily amongst the darkened wood as it snaked through the soggy undergrowth. Silently the dark creature glided over the soft terrain, ignoring the mud that attempted to suck her down. Her only flesh and blood remained living within the swamp lands and for some reason she had felt the need to be close to it. Call it a Mother’s intuition, but she had sensed her daughter was unwell. But when she got to the borders of the swamp she refused to go inside it, catching the scent of sickness and disease, and she turned around and left. If her child had the disease and did not survive then it was simply meant to be. Her daughter carried the same blood as her weak former imprint and Tick Tock wanted nothing to do with anything associated with weakness. Heading North the gruesome creature was in no hurry to wherever her paws carried her. Tonight she moved silently barley making a noise as her paws were gently pressed into the wet dirt leaving half-printed paw prints behind her. Hardly concerned that she could be traceable. It was the sound of something moving far too fast through the woods that had caught the beast’s undivided attention.

Ebony skull would lift slowly as she caught the scent of an injured fearful bounding straight in her direction. A low rumble in her stomach echoed as the simply thought of her hunger, the growl increasing as sinister thoughts began to draw together about the idea she would be full. The taste of the injured animal’s fear on the wind did nothing more than escalate her appetite. Although she could taste and sense fear from others, it was not in her nature to experience fear for herself. She was not functioned to flee from danger. The dark creature was wired differently. Mother Nature was a great teacher in survival and those that failed had to pay the ultimate price. Should anyone or anything threaten her life her instincts drove her to obliterate the threat – at any costs. Although her next meal was fast approaching her the Monster did not quicken her steps. It did not take too long until she approached the broken figured that laid in the still shallow pond.

Grey-trimmed ears pricked forward in interest as she stuck to the thick fog, her ebony coat tricked with grey provided excellent camouflage. Haunting sapphire eyes locked in on the filthy tattered white she-wolf. Those cold eyes traced over every inch of the still creature noticing the pink skin covered with open wounds. With exposed bone peeking through there was a moment when the dark creature had a thought. This particular thought was hardly ever pressed in the forethought of her mind. Sympathy. All along her carcass she carried several healed wounds that she received over her lifetime, some of those wounds could have taken her life and yet she remained. Curious about the she-wolf a dark thought crossed her mind, interested to see just what would happen if she…played. With an air of difference she walked straight up towards the wolf, those dark sapphire eyes glowering as her alto cold lyrics slipped easily from her scarred maw, quite content to push the she-wolf. To see if this extremely easy prey had any fight left in her – always was she willing to play with her food.

“If you continue to lay like that…you will die.”
