Faeries Dance at Flaming Falls

Taytim’s face become one of equal confusion to what El Alran was saying to her. She knew they were speaking the same language, but their words seemed foreign to each other. It was true there were creatures out there that felt she needed to be harmed or destroyed for being one thing or another. Her father had even warned her that there were horses out there that would take the frustration of their life out on her if given the chance. These were stories she had heard, but had never lived and still felt sure she would feel the same way. Her pride in her life was not going to let something else take it away from her. In this case she would not have let someone punish her for being kind and treating them as and equal, as El Aran put it.

The other mare had closed her eyes, and Taytim let her finish whatever it was she was doing. It seemed to be important to the other mare, she was not one to intrude on another’s needs. It seemed as though the world was a lot bigger and more diverse than her home herd had every dreamed possible. She smiled to herself, her ears perking forward again in the excitement of this realization. There was so much to see, so many to speak to and learn. This was becoming a world of stories.

When El Aran spoke again, she was brought back from her stray thoughts. the words settled on her and she had to contemplate them again. “If they were all powerful, and could kill me so easily, why would they bother in the first place?” she asked. “They have all the power in the world, what would make them want to share that with me? They could be flying. They could be riding the lightning. They could be spending their time creating another world. If they could kill me with a breath, they would not have even tried to get to know me to know if they wanted to or not. It seems like for all powerful, incredibly spiteful creatures these gods are putting in a lot more effort than needed for what they want to have happen.” The young mare smiled and shrugged. “I think if they were ‘all powerful’ beings and they wanted to speak with me, they would have wanted to speak to me as an equal and me to them like that, too. As an equal, I can say no. They should understand that when approaching me. It is a pleasure to meet you. El Aran.” And it was, Taytim was thoroughly engrossed in the concepts the other mare was challenging her with. The crunchy leaves and grass were all but forgotten under her hooves she was so eager to hear what strange words her companion would say next.
