I taught myself how to climb trees pretty early on, at least the ones with low hanging branches. I learned how to balance on the branches so I wouldn't fall and I've taken enough dumps to know just how to place my paws. I haven't even gotten a chance to show Kronos my new skills as of yet but I plan to some day. The moment just hasn't come up yet. In the meantime, I practice as much as I can and find the best trees in Asteraia to climb in so I can get the best view of the borders. The other wolves can tire themselves out running them and looking for new scents but I can see it all from the branches of the closest tree. And here I am today, watching as a pretty entertaining scene unfolds.
Two young brothers from outside the pack come up to the borders. At first I think they must be lost but the way they look around makes it seem like this is some kind of field trip. One climbs up on the other, looking around and using his own brother as a stepping stone which pulls a chuckle from my lips. Kronos would never allow such an act and I would never think to ask. It just seems too disrespectful, too belittling. But the one being used as the stepping stone doesn't seem to mind too much. I scoff at his acceptance of such an act.
Then I see none other than the daughters of Jaidah making their way toward them. Widow is the more outgoing one. I remember her well as the one who befriended Kronos as they played tag on the borders when we first joined. I didn't take part in it, more likely to stand by and watch but I did get a good show out of the older male, Eyeless Jack. Seems I managed to get under his skin, at least enough to have him barking lectures at me. I'm going to find him now. He just earned himself a new apprentice, whether he likes it or not. Meanwhile, I observe as Gehenna, the more silent but savage one stands by for now, as if waiting for the cue to strike. She reminds me of a cobra in some regards.
My lips tug into a scowl however when the male who was the top of the self made tower moves up behidn Widow, his posture challenging. I can't hear his words from here but I've seen enough to know this guy needs to be knocked down a peg or two. I leap down from my perch, making my way toward them at a sprint. I'm getting closer but then I hear the yelp from another direction and I change pace without making a sound, coming up behind the one hiding in the bushes. I snap at his flanks without warning, snarling through my teeth as my blue eyes narrow in challenge.
"Only a fool hides from watchful eyes. Get out there where everyone can see you or I'll make sure they hear you."
The threat is obvious as I straighten myself and snap at his back legs again, aiming to herd him out where the other two males are. I can smell from here that he's not of Asteraia either. Meanwhile I can hear Widow challenging the loud male back while Gehenna moves around to the other and attacks. I should have known I would arrive just in time. I keep my eyes on the one who thought he could hide, my eyes piercing daggers, waiting for him to make a wrong move.I don't know if he knows the other wolves or not but I'm hoping they at least show mercy as I suddenly bite at the male's scruff, aiming to pin him to the ground and put my paw on him to hold him down while I further survey the situation.
If he dodges, I'll lunge after him like a snake, aiming to herd him out to the others so we at least have them all in one place. My hackles are at full mast now, my tail arched up in challenge as my ears pin flat to my skull.
