Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

He had failed where he should not have, but in light of that, he had been alone and always mindful of the loss. He has been a gypsy because he could not let go, even when he had tried to do so. He had grown distant and weighted by unrest, but he belonged out here. Kellin had stuck with him all these years, and they were such a strange pair of wolves. Oddly thin from their sires, but Sabriel was overly tall along with that fact. Kellin was a bit shorter, funny with the fringe and scruffy almost with the scarring, but the male wasn't unattractive by any means. More normal than he, himself was, so that had always been in his partial brother's favor. Sabriel had urged his younger sibling to set out on his own, but Kellin hadn't done so.

Eventually, Sabriel wanted the male to have a chance at a different kind of lifestyle, and so he had returned home to see if the male couldn't be compelled away by something or other. Imprinting happened here, and if Kellin was able to get stuck with some pretty little thing, than all the better. Sabriel had decided that life wasn't for him. If there came an imprint that stuck and was binding, things might be different, but he told himself he would not take another mate and that was that. He could die out alone instead, if that was what the cards had for him. Admittably he had the want to go to Diveen and see if Micteca was alive and well, but the better part of him said that if this was so, he did not want to mess with it.

So it was to the neutral areas he went, loping along on too long legs -- the awkward looking wolf, more like a borzoi dog in appearance than a true wolf -- but it was only genetics playing tricks. Some kind of mutation that made him look so strange, added to the different heights and the three genetic codes he held within him. Chimera, they said. Kellin, too. Some of them had it and some of them did not. Anyone could sniff it out if they knew what they were looking for, but today.. Sabriel was just going to enjoy seeing the place he had been missing these past few years. He could detect no gypsies left, but he aimed to bring a group back together, if he could. All in due time.
