Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

He had struggled with his own bravery and confidence since he was little. Even though Yuki always had been stronger as well as just generally more capable of doing anything and everything. Perhaps it was that lack of confidence that held him back. A gentle guiding hand had to be with him everywhere he went in order to make him feel better; to go outside those bounds was nearly unthinkable for the boy. With his mother, father or sister around however he was better, more apt to go and explore and see the world. He was coming so close to his first year now, and most children were already happily venturing away from the den and their parents. Not Ame though, he was happy staying near his mom, dad or sister all day, it was why he was catching on to what his father was doing at his apothecary seeing how and where he stored things and being told what each plant root, seed, or leaves did. He didn’t have it all down pat but for a child he probably had a better idea than any other children. Perhaps his father expected him to learn his trade though, and he would if it made the mostly black pelted male happy. He liked making his family happy, but depending on today’s adventure it might turn out a bit differently than expected.

As his mother spoke he focused on her intently. He was unsure but if she thought he could do whatever he wanted than he believed her. He would be able to be a warrior? Fighting wasn’t something that his father or mother seemed to be able to do, but his grandfather did, so it was in his blood, right? Of course he had no idea he actually wasn’t blood related at all to Azrael. Far as he was concerned, and his father for that matter, he was Azrael’s grandson and thus fully capable of being a warrior too. She told him to never let anyone tell him otherwise, that he could do whatever he wanted to do. ”Okay Momma.” He said giving a little nod still following close behind her. She was so serious about it and he was so uncertain, but he wanted to make her happy too, if it made her happy it would make the world all the better, it was why he was here today to learn from her just as he had been his father.

He followed her across the land, dutifully following her as and good child would their mother. He had been across the border before, of course, he had followed his mother that one day to the valley when he was really young. But that was a long time ago and he hadn’t crossed the borders since. It took quite some time, but he continued to follow, evenup the rocks giving a scared little yip for his mother’s safety when she slipped but he was safely out of the way of the tumbling rock. He watched it fall before his blue and golden gaze set back onto Yin before continuing on their little path. He watched as the world changed around him. The red dirt and patches of grass that were commonly seen around Diveen fading away to lush greenery and a few more bushes were strewn about as well.

The little grey boy looked around, eyes wide as he looked across the sky that never seemed to end. He was distracted for a moment with everything that was around him, his tail waving about until he spotted his mother motioning to him. He followed her wondering why she was moving in such an odd way but still he crept closer with her peering through the brush with her a bit confused on why they were hiding at the moment.

Ame looked to her when she spoke, blinking, obviously bewildered, by what they were doing. It was clear she was trying to explain it, talking about how others were capable of hiding and living here but also how dangerous it was. He gave a nod, not fully understanding but he understood a little bit. He didn’t understand why it was safe and also not safe at the same time, but of course he hadn’t even gotten decent at tracking let alone full scale hunting. He watched as the grass rustled though. Not seeing what was within until something small came hopping out. It had a good guise in the grass, he could barely see it squinting his eyes at first until he finally made out the whole form watching it nibble at the grass roots. He watched it for a few minutes, staring before his mom spoke to him again grinning.

He didn’t know the answer… not really at least. What would it mean if there were no little ones? Ame was still young, still learning as well, ”They are gone? Is that what it means? Where did they go? Do they not have a mommy and daddy? Does that mean they are gone too, Momma?” He asks tilting his head. There were obviously heavier implications than he currently knew or could understand, but that was the beauty of this day and why he was here with his mom now.
