The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

A dark wolf is the next to arrive but he is silent as a ghost, dipping his head to Kershov before standing quietly off to the side, even averting his gaze to the dirt like a servant. I raise a brow at this show, chuckling under my breath as my tail flicks beside my haunches. He might be one to toy with later. I'd like to hear what his voice sounds like, whether it's in a shout of anger or the purr of pleasure. The next wolf to arrive is Grey Wind. I've heard of him more than I've seen him so I allow my green and blue gaze to study his sturdy form as he arrives. He is a loyal warrior to Kershov so certainly one to take note of. His attention is only for Kershov at first though as he bows his head and lets him know he is at his service. I tilt my head in approval, ears pricking forward in curiosity. He then turns to the wolf at Kershov's side, greeting her politely and my tail lashes against my flanks again. I watch as he goes over to Halina, asking of her wounds and taking a seat beside her. I note the name he calls the dark wolf though, memorizing it for later. Sebastian. So the ghost has a name.

When Grey Wind comes over to take a seat beside me, I turn my two toned gaze on him with interest. My lips tug into a teasing smile. "As well as ever, Grey Wind. And you?" The words fall from my lips like poisoned honey. He then speaks to the other wolf, introducing himself. I turn my gaze to the alpha now, listening as he banters with Halina and tells her he will inform the rest of the pack of her condition. I think we can all see she's injured. My ears prick with interest at reference to another wolf who they mean ill will toward. Possibly a skit I can find a role to play in? I do so enjoy playing with dolls, especially living screaming ones. I tilt my head in curiosity when Kershov speaks to Amias, asking about a wolf named Verity, a name I recall vividly. So she had a son? How...interesting. He was about to say more when apparently the cat got his tongue, or rather, the wolf. The puppet who was supposed to be easy to control, the mask who ended up turning the tables on him and melting the black hole that he calls a heart. I almost resent her for that. After all, the ice king is the one I signed up to follow. And yet I still see slivers of who he really is beneath the surface. It seems more alive when she's not around but I'll take it.

I look away from the romantic scene they paint as she rubs against him and he buries his nose in her fur. Without my soldier at my side, I've grown bitter against matters of the heart and I've never been fully on board with the new queen. Sure, she won a fight for the title and she got under Kershov's skin but she has yet to really move me. Of course, she's still got time and chances to do so. I haven't totally made up my mind just yet. Kershov manages to pull himself away just long enough to call me thoughtful. I look into his eyes though and I can see the slivers of...what? Fear? Uncertainty? Like he's afraid I'll expose his secrets for all to hear. Ah, dear Kershov, you should know better. Have I not proven you can trust me? My lips twitch, the only hint that I saw but then I look away to cover it, going to take my seat. Kershov then looks around and starts to speak, first to Sebastian and then to Grey Wind. I straighten up as he then gets to business. My eyes narrow slightly. I agree, it has been peaceful for too long. We need to act. The question is, what should be our first move? I listen to the options and I know we need to swell our ranks first before we go talking war. We could easily find ourselves in too deep if we go poking giants and only come up with a handful of soldiers to back it up.

I turn my head when another scent enters my nose, ears pricking at the mottled female who bows before Kershov. I turn my gaze down to her paw and the bird she holds down with it, a hummingbird of all things and still alive to boot. How...merciful of her. I lick my chops but hold my ground and my urges to rip the little thing to shreds. It's too bright and shiny and those kinds do not last long in a place like Abendrot. My head snaps around however at the new scent that I would recognize anywhere, my heart suddenly hammering in my chest as blue and green gaze falls on the shadowed knight I thought I would never see again. When I returned to find his cologne missing from Abendrot, I had feared the worst, that he had left for good this time. Seems I was mistaken and this time I'm not sorry to be wrong. I don't even mask the single swish of my tail as my eyes brighten, my lips tugging into a happy smile even as he launches toward me. I wait patiently and yet not so patiently as he bows before the alphas, shifting my weight but remaining seated. I don't start breathing again though until he sits at my side, his fur meshing with mine as he presses against me and I feel the weight of his chin on my neck.

I let out my breath now in a contented sigh, melting my body against his, the only place I could ever want to be. I can feel his own heart through his chest thumping to the same rhythm as my own. At his words, I let a rumbling growl sound in my throat but it's more like the equivalent of a purr, a sound of pleasure. As his eyes go to the ground, I rub my head under his chin, nuzzling into his fur. No one can own me like this wolf can and no one ever will. I look up when another female approaches, watching with little interest as she apologizes to Kershov and then takes a seat beside Sebastian. Yet another wolf arrives, a male this time, and he apologizes and then takes a seat next to Amias. Seems there are families taking root in Abendrot. I prick an ear toward Halina as she teases back with Kershov before turning her charms on Scarlet. I raise a brow at her smooth compliments. Someone have a crush? How apt. She even offers her doll to the queen for her pleasure. Well at least she knows how to please a queen of Abendrot.

I listen up when she speaks up, finding myself agreeing with most of what she says. I tilt my head, contemplating. How would a pack of war attract healers? They're not exactly known for joining packs like ours. I smirk. "Loners. We need to target free wolves until our numbers are larger. That way we won't have a pack coming down on us for attacking their own. Once our numbers have swelled, we can look to packs for things we want but there are plenty of loner wolves out there to give us what we need."
