News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

a rose

by any other name would smell as sweet

Nesting had begun earlier in the week, causing her to extend her den, digging deeper into the ground, slanting back at a slight angle, also creating a lip at the entrance of the den, ensuring if it does rain, the water would not flood the whole den. She then searched Spirane, finding the soft fallen twigs from the trees, and finding the under-fur that was shed from both rabbits, and some foxes. The under-coat from those animals would provide a very soft welcome for the pups that were stretching the skin on her sides out to an impressive size. The usual langy-lean girl was bulging from all angles. She didn’t know when she would be whelping, but she prayed it would be soon. Her body couldn’t take much more of it, her sides were so swollen and stretched, she was so over being pregnant, that it couldn’t be over any sooner.

The sun was dipping low in the sky, a low fog was rolling in. The orange hues were swirling with the reds and pinks in the sky, giving the fog an even more ethereal glow. She stood in front of her den, leaning her hip against the logs that surrounded the face of her den. The entrance of the den was a bit hidden, she supposed, in a mess of fallen logs, there was the opening in the ground, and she had picked it due to the tops of the trees being open here, and she had the perfect view of the stars at night.

She pawed at the ground around her den before she noticed the first pang of pain slice through her abdomen. She started for a moment, before she began to circle the den, her mind racing that she may have forgotten something in her crazy nesting mind. She began to wander around the den again, noticing the sky, bright and clear, making her happy to know that it wouldn’t rain on them tonight. She hoped that the slight pains that she was feeling now would be signaling that she would be having her puppies, whether it be tonight or in the morning. She sighed, her eyes once more looking towards the sky before she headed back towards the mouth of her den. Her ears twisted, listening to the sounds around her, hoping that there would be no strange on goings tonight, like bobcats, or anything.

As soon as she managed to lay down in the den, the first sharp pain seemed dull compared to the ones that began to roll one after another, following the tail of the other with a brief, half minute break between contractions. She felt like she was drowning in the pain of the contractions, and began to pant. Her sides heaving, her eyes wide. She wondered if this would be worth it.

She couldn’t wait to see her babies, to see whether she would be over run with girls, boys, or if she would have an even ratio of babies. She couldn’t wait to see who they looked like. She had a feeling that Nathaniel’s color would dominate her lighter shades. She hoped that she would be able to influence the colors of her children somehow.

It seemed like hours had passed before she felt like something was pushing its way free, and she began to strain in earnest, trying to expel what had to be her first pup, from her womb. The pain seemed to almost smolder, before it heightened and faded some more. She groaned, and turned quickly, moving to reach her child, gasping as she looked at the dark hues of her little one, tearing away at the sac that covered him, and then realizing that it was infact, a him. She had a little boy! Her joy was evident in her eyes, and she gently picked him up, moving him to lay at her chest, cleaning him off while his little nose twitched as he searched for her teet. He was quite dark in appearance, but he had lighter hues mixed in. It was a little hard to tell when he was still damp but for now, she would settle with his placement in her life. “Little Caderyn, my little battle king. Keep watch over your siblings, as they will need you.

The contractions began again, and she drew in slow, deep breaths as she tried to deal through the contractions. This next one seemed to be a bit smaller than the first, and it came a little easier. She turned once more and tore the sac off this one, discovering that it was a little girl! She couldn’t believe it! This little girl was a lighter shade than her first born, along with the lighter shades as well, and there seemed to be some kind of marking on her face. She couldn’t wait to see her little girl grow up!

She moved her too, gently placing her besides her older brother. Smiling as she cleaned the little girl. “Aurelia, my sweet golden girl.” She smiled once more, nuzzling her little girl with a grin. But then, the pains started again, and she couldn’t believe she was having more than two babies! Her excitement went through the roof. Cleaning the little one as she let the contractions run through her body.

She laid her head down on her legs as she waited through these last contractions. They seemed to run on, long and greater in strength then the last, making her believe this one would be the size of her first. Soon, the urge to push came, and out slipped a pure, pristine white little pup. She smiled, shifting to tear at the sack with her teeth and move her second little boy towards her others, and smiled. She cleaned him off, inspecting him for any issues, but who was she kidding, they were too young to tell for sure what would be wrong at this age. She nuzzled him as she settled him with his siblings. “Berwyn. My white knight, help your brother keep your sister safe in this world.” She smiled, waiting to see what her body would do next, but it seemed that things were over and done with, no more than her three angels. And that was good enough for her. She laid her head back down, looking out the mouth of the den, looking into the dark world before her.
