Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

your love endures my back to it

She had been curious about the unusual scent that radiated from the fields; it could not be helped, after all. She felt inclined to keep a close eye on the free lands for that had been where her illness some seasons ago had assuredly come from. It would do the packs no good to ignore the going-ons of such a place, lest of all if the scent contained the telltale sign of blood and struggle. It had lead from the marshes and towards the crags, and with it, she had followed diligently. Every so often, she would approach one of the bloodied patches of grass that stuck out, sniffing wearily at the scent to better understand the wolf's condition and whatever had happened to it. So far, she knew little of it, only that the blood had become stale but did not smell foul with infection. It made her brows furrow, and yet she had to continue forward.

Eventually, she had discovered an area of the fields that smelt much more strongly of the scent, though still a faint thing at that. It seemed to indicate the epicenter of whatever event had transpired and she moved in to approach cautiously. Slowly, she fell into a crouched position, using her smaller size to slide forward through the tall grass with her tails and ears taut with attention paid. She had no idea what to expect, though she could hear the sound of other paws and breathing not too far away - at the epicenter. It seemed a little suspicious at first and yet, it would have been natural for others of her kind to come investigating. Surely not all of the wolves were fools to their nature - their inquisitiveness.

She paused for several seconds then, still some distance away from where the grass had been somewhat flattened in some display of violence. She allowed the breeze to shift the grass around her, giving her a small peek at whoever stood there - a dark fellow, whose scent came to her soon enough. It was one she recognized and though she still remained on edge, she had decided that a familiar scent was better than a stranger. Slowly, she rose, poking out of the tall grass some ten or more feet away from where Iscariot had come to stand.

"You smell like a pack now," she stated simply, her eyes having moved to meet his when his attention shifted to her. Though her face remained passive, her voice did its best to have a more kindly edge to it before she continued. "Out here investigating?"

With that, she took several stiff steps forward until she toed the clearing. Her nose lowered into the grass and dirt then, finally able to tune into the scent entirely. It made her nose screw up - the blood reeked. Clearly quite a bit had been shed, for it still stained the blades of grass with a dark, almost black, dust of sorts. Dried and old, yet curious. Two lupine scents - her brows could not help but raise in curiosity and concern. Fights were not uncommon on the edge of territories, or within, or around hunting locations and yet, there had been no indication of prey having been taken to or from the area. In fact, it seemed almost as if the other animals had taken to avoiding the spot. She'd need to investigate more, though she had her unspoken questions in regards to Iscariot.
