The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.
All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.
Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

She had found the pup hiding in the caverns, the pup who had run from her when she had offered him safety and protection. Others perhaps would have scoffed and left him to his doom when he had failed to accept her help, letting nature take its course. But Halina had been strong, and even she would have fallen prey to death if her father had not taught her differently. Halina? Don't leave me. Her dark azures had searched through the darkness, her nares following Ace's trail directly to his fallen form, covered in blood. Gently, her maw had opened, grasping his scruff and lifted him from the ground. Her limbs had turned around, starting in motion to bring him first to Saw Tooth. Kahlan had spread some awful smelling poultices over the cuts to cease the bleeding and aid in healing. While stopped there and while the ess was busy tending to the broken pup, she looked around sneakily, and had talked to Kahlan, inquiring about her family. She had discovered that Kahlan's family had been murdered and only her and her brother remained... and now he had a mate and pups. One of which Kershov had taken as payment for Channing's safe passage. Another who was quickly learning healing from her aunt. And more interesting still, Kahlan's relationship with Kenshin. A name she had heard had connections to the King. Surely Kershov would be interested in hearing all of this for it would play nicely into the plans that the pack had for expanding their reach and power. The pack did need a new healer... She had moved slowly to the packlands, wanting Ace to rest on the trip, to regain some of his health. The trip, therefore, was slow going. Every footfall was planned so that her motions would be smooth and not jolt Ace at all. When she finally returned to her home, it was nightfall, the moon overhead lighting the dark lands in an eerie glow. "Ace, it is time to awaken, little one." Gently, she nudged his nape with her nares, her tongue flowing out to clean the remaining blood from his pelt. She was careful to not touch any of his wounds, for though the healer had put poppy in the poultices, she did not want to irritate the skin or cause him any pain.
