The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

I waited- waited until it was dark and the moon was high before I snuck from Diveen. I went the back way, around Elijah’s old den, places Covet had not yet discovered so I would move unseen, long yearling legs carrying my form further and further from my pack, telling Orfiel to come in an hour or so to the agreed meeting place. I was restless tonight, hot, bothered, my mind so filled with thoughts that I had been unable to sleep and found myself pacing well before the agreed hour. There was so much to be done and yet perhaps in this, time was on my side. I had notified them, the chosen ones, the ones Heyel named before he disappeared, to meet me. He was supposed to be here tonight- Heyel, but no one had seen him for…hours, since before the battle, since before things changed and I had to act faster then I had anticipated. It was…agitating and yet not wholly inconvenient I suppose. It would happen all the same. A small hitch in my plan and yet nothing that could not be handled. I was young, but I was hardly uneducated- there will always be plans, faults, hitches- I just have to be adaptable each and every time and really I think I am rather good at it. Each step was fluid and light upon the earth, a blessing of my breeding and blood I suppose, as I moved into the night, pelt illuminated in the moonlight above as the violet of my eyes fixated upon the mountains that loomed ahead. It was a long trip, but I was fit, prepared, the journey made silently until the very borders of the mountains of Spirane were reached and Guardian was met- just where he said he would be. He is a good wolf, Guardian, a useful one- even if he was ridiculously tall and a potential lighting rod at that height. Personally I hoped I would never grow so large- but we would see.

The words I offered Guardian were met with a nod before I turned away, leaving him to rouse Calliel and Achilles and remind them of our little meeting tonight. I hardly knew if they would answer the summons of a child and yet it was merely their loss if they did not. I have little time for those petty enough to argue my age and apparent naivety. I am made for greater things and tonight it merely begins. My pace extended once more, trail clear as I loped from the mountain, form at last sliding into an easy run as I raced atop the fields and flats- heading for the caves I knew were deep enough and dark enough to hold the secrets I had to share with far less chance of them becoming overheard. They would assist me I am sure and yet, if they will not- then so be it. I will find another three though I cannot argue Heyel’s logic in the naming of the ones he had. I only wish he were here to actually offer his assistance, where had he gotten to anyway? I pushed the thought from my mind, determined to think of it later as I lunged upward and into the grotto, form slinking like a shadow amongst the stone walls and gaping crevices that made up this land. It was…disagreeable at best- in fact it was downright undecorated and honestly why any loner chose to live here I had no idea. It was so….stone-like.

I made a sharp turn, dropping lower and lower again before choosing a narrow cave, one hidden and concealed behind rather a large overgrown bush of some sort, the entrance hidden from easy view. This would make rather a nice place I think, either for a meeting or some sort of other unfortunate crime. It smelt…damp in her. I wrinkled my muzzle slightly before pushing the scent away with a snort, moving through the narrow tunnel before it opened it a rather large cave, a single, rising rock at the end holding my attention as I paced towards it. It would do I suppose. One long leap saw me launch easily atop it before moving to seat myself, the silver in my pelt still faintly aglow in the dim light. There must be a hole somewhere- to be letting the moon in, though for now it hardly mattered as I waited for them to answer my call. I would try to be fast though, if what Guardian said was true Achilles had been sent to search for Heyel and I saw no need to take up more then a few moments of his time before letting him go onward, at least he would have a chance to search some caves while he was here. So I waited for them. Achilles, Calliel and Orfiel- the ones who would help me take….what we were owed and see much of Heyel’s work….revived, though not at all they way they surely thought. Who said I couldn’t be cunning?
