The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Find Me In The Darkness

For months they had been gone, absent from the lands where they had finally settled down. A pack meeting had been called, and few aside from the pair had responded, and eventually the leader had simply walked away. There had been no conclusion, no words of leadership, no assignment of jobs or ranks. Athene had not cared much about the lack of a rank - in her previous life, when she had been but a pup growing up alongside Hellene, she had lived in a pack without ranks. Everyone had a single task to do, but there was no one who was above another. They were equals, all of them. Perhaps the warriors were seen as the leaders, for in times of crisis they were their only defense... but ranks were obsolete. But for the leader to not apply a role to her, to not tell her and Zev what was expected of them... it had seemed wrong. Perhaps that is why she and Zev had left originally. At first it had been just to get away... but the reason for why they had not returned... perhaps it was because they never truly felt the sense of belonging that they had expected.

Perhaps being away was, aside from a time of perfection and intimacy, their own childish way of sulking. However, instead of sulking from being made to work, it was from the lack of it. Athene had been utterly bored... but even so she was returning to the borders now because it was the right thing to do. After a long talk, she and her mate had finally agreed to return to Andere Seite. They had toyed with the idea of finding another pack, perhaps one a bit more active where they could integrate more, but ultimately they had decided that they needed to honor their vows. Whether it was alive or dead, to Andere Seite they now belonged.

However, as soon as they had reached the border, they had noticed that it was different now. Many of the same scents remained, but in different levels. More than anything, the Alphess' scent was decayed. Either she had also gone on a vacation, or there had been a shift in power. Time changed many things... but when they had crossed the border they had discovered that their den still existed, and though dusty and ill-tended to, it was in good order. An hour of cleaning and redigging it out had improved its status, and they had been sleeping the days away, for just before returning they had eaten an overly large meal. This day, however, Athene awoke feeling refreshed and not weighed down by a meal in her stomach. Rising silently from Zev's side, she had slipped their den without waking him, exploring the terra anew alone. She had never before taken the time to learn the lay of the land, so she started now, heading to the boundary and began a trail around the terra, her pace slow enough to allow her to examine every scent she came upon. It was only a matter of time before another came upon her...
