News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

Covet was calm with the subtle approach of one of the remaining wolves, still able to detect changes in scent on the air from his unblocked nostril. He made no move to indicate that he noticed her there at all, letting her have time to warm up to the idea of coming out where he could see her. When she did, not saying anything to him, Covet gave a dip of his head in her direction, waiting for others to join in. It would be a small group he knew, but he did not feel bothered by that fact. It was something to build upon, and the only way to really do that the right way was to show the change he wanted through actions. It was going to be quite the process, but he was aware of that. He knew that there were going to be many hurdles to jump, but he had understood that going in.

The fight to gain Diveen had been brutal, but it had not been Covet's intention for it to be so close to lethal. When Kane went for his spine at the back of his neck, however, all bets had been off and he had responded accordingly. Covet had good reasons for not wanting to go in that direction in the first place, as he knew he could lose himself to the battle, but it was done now. The angels would probably think he had instagated the brutality of the fight, considering the collateral damage to Kane, but they both knew what the truth was. If Kane would own up to it or not was another matter entirelly, and Covet wasn't sure if it mattered in the long run. Angels, if they believed in their madness, would find ways to keep their delusions. This was not Covet's problem.

Another had come along, and Covet watched the interactions of the male with the first to arrive without expression. There was a nod given to him as with the female. He was not in the best of conditions when it came to looks right now, but that was hardly an issue to Covet. He put little stock in his own looks and usually the looks of others when it was so shallow as mud and debris. That kind of vanity and worse yet was the issue of angels, not him. Someone else had arrived in the distance, but again he lets them choose to come out and be seen, rather than calling the fact to attention. Hyrule was asking a question by that time, anyway, and Covet let his attention rest on the male. Then the other female was bounding closer, and Covet gave her a nod before returning his gaze to Hyrule.

But the male was telling him to wait, and so Covet did not yet speak. He was uncomfortable with Hyrule's messing with his face and fur, but he did not show it, allowing it to occur. If it made the younger one feel better, Covet would go with it, for now. He made a little 'hmm' sound at what Hyrule was saying about looking less lopsided now, not having much of an opinion on such a thing as that. Again he doesn't quite have his chance to answer the question when the second female was speaking. Her words made him curious, made him interested in a real conversation with her eventually. "Indeed." He responded to that when she turned to him, but he did not give more information just yet on the matter. He would, once he had a chance to say it all.

It was strange to have her loping around him with hackles raised, and different to hear her speaking of the blood being a sacrifice. It does not press him to reply, but when she was seated, Covet was able to go into his answers. "A wolf needs no true reason to challenge for a pack but the want to do so. It is who we are. I told Kane I wanted a change here. Angels have been known for being cruel to those they don't understand or who look different, act different. Heyel slaughtered my father's first mate, and although I grew up knowing his hate, I still gave angels a chance. Achilles and Guardian were rude to a stranger that they did not know, but that pales in comparison to the fact that angels kept my children from me. That they did this and rubbed it in my face." They deserved the truth if they had stayed, right?

Covet figured that if they were here now, they could hear the most of what had moved him to the challenge; the fact that some of it ran deeper than he had let on when it had all happened. Yet Covet hadn't finished speaking; "I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I paid for that. And I still want to believe some of the angels are better than all that. But if they left with their rash thoughts on why they think I did this..." He gave a wry smile, a slow roll of his shoulders. "It could have been any pack, but yes. Those two showed me that nothing had changed in the time I was gone. It's time to change those deluded thoughts that color of pelt and eye, that different blood makes anyone inferior. If they are weak, then they are weak, but those things should not determine weakness." He allows another moment of silence.

Then he was resuming to words again, saying it all; "And I wanted to make a stand in some way to those that I think needed to see it. And I want to find my children." A pause, a glance to each of them. "Maybe I am not the change that is needed, but I own that. Even if I am capable of it, I am also aware that I may not be given a true chance because some think my reasons are unjust or do not wish for change. I can understand that, to a point. If I cannot push Diveen to a better future, then I will find someone who will." At this he glances to the second female to arrive, wondering if he should say anything of the shadow comment or not. The other part, however, he could speak of. "I did not drive out your mother. I drove out only two males, but birds of a feather, as they say, perhaps." And it was her right to leave or stay. "I am Covet, by the way. And you two are?" His name had to be said, and he figured maybe the two females would respond if he had given his own first.
