Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

heaven help me

If it hadn't been evident that Taviora was where I was meant to be before, it sure was now. I'd found the beauty of the forest enrapturing from the first moment Namira had led me beneath its canopy. But now...now I felt absolutely anchored to this land in a way that was inexplicable and irreversible. Even before I had met Leafshadow and experienced this strange and intoxicating phenomenon called 'imprinting' I had made up my mind that I would make this place my home. Of the small collection of pack wolves I'd met I found myself very fond of each and every one of them. The overall atmosphere in the forest was inescapably pleasant as well, and it seemed as though prey was abundant throughout. There was nothing about this pack that I could find to sway my decision, and so I had stayed.

Now, as I moved through the woodlands in hopes that I might meet another of my pack mates, a song echoed through the trees to summon the pack. I had not yet met this Cosca...Cozkatal...well, Coza, that was my friend Amoxtli's father and the alpha of the pack. Though I'd really never heard him referred to as that, more commonly as the protector or even chief of the forest. It was an interesting quirk about this place that I had yet to work out, but maybe today I would learn more about it as I began to lope through the trees towards the central meadow where the call had come from. I hoped that I would get the chance to meet more of the pack as well, perhaps a mentor that could take me under their wing and teach me more about the trade of healing.

Jogging into the expansive meadow, my eyes were immediately drawn to the largest wolf present. He was a creamy white color, lighter even than the cream that washed over Amoxtli's jaw and throat. Over his head and sweeping down his back to his tail was a dark brown, and I noticed too the scars that littered his form here and there. It would seem that he truly was the protector of the forests. I nodded my grey head deeply in respect to him, before my green eyes turned to land upon the forms of - lo and behold - my first two friends in this land! My tail swished back and forth, eyes lighting up as I moved to sit on the far side of Namira, though I leaned forward to offer Amoxtli a smile. As other wolves began to join the gathering, my eyes were ever searching, hoping to land upon the golden brown and russet form of Leafshadow. Would she come sit beside me if she came? Why did I feel so nervous that she might not come at all?

My attention was taken, however, when the leader of the pack began to speak. Ears cupped forward, green eyes trained upon him as he spoke of things that I perhaps did not fully understand - I'd not heard word of this attack that had taken place, though I did know about the challenge he'd fended off just before I'd first come to Taviora. He went on to speak of his heart and soul, Moth, and my tail twitched behind me. Heart and soul, did that mean they were imprints, like Leafshadow and I? I was still slightly unsure what this bond that connected me to her meant for our future, and mention of such a thing stirred butterflies in my belly. He came to his conclusion then and my eyes grew slightly wider and my tail began to wave back and forth across the ground. Amoxtli as the new guardian of the forest! My gaze turned towards my friend, curious of his response.

I nodded at his words, though Namira was the first to chime in her opinion in the chipper attitude I knew her for. Once more my head nodded, and I glanced around wondering if it was permissible for me to speak now. After all I was one of the newest members of the pack, a mere healer to be (if my training went well). But everyone seemed open and welcoming to the free speech of each member, and I was reminded again that there was a reason I had decided to stay here. My flat green gaze turned back to Amoxtli then. "I know I'm only new here 'n' all, but I reckon you'd make a mighty fine Guardian for this here pack," I said, adding 'guardian' to the list in my mind of ways that the alpha wolf here was referred to. My tail twitched behind me, hoping that Amoxtli shared in the happiness that those around him surely felt at the prospect of his impending leadership.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
