Her senses alert her not to the nearing presence of Raptor, but of something -- someone -- else. Her nose is set to work at the scent, her ears swivling to better listen. There's something almost interesting to his scent, for she is sure he is male now. Whatever makes her curious about the smell is not enough to dampen her caution, and she proceeds carefully. She was not a tall creature, but she was swift and agile. She had counted on her speed and flexiblity her entire life, and thus far it had done her well. Well enough to seen fourteen years, though when it came to productivity she knows she has fallen quite short.
Nothing can be done for the lost years, and she can only move forward and make the most of what was left to her. Lex knew she might as well face the male nearby face on and see what his intentions were if any. She would not go down without a fight if he were one of the cannibals, but if he was just passing through, it would be good to know that, too. His attention was all but carving holes into her, figuratively speaking, and Lex had to wonder where Raptor was and if she would keep her position unless it was further needed. Observing was one of the first lessons taught to the younger one, after all.
Time to see it put to the test. Lex moved with careful consideration in her steps as she approached the male, her stance politely defensive. She did not speak to him, but alas there was not much use of her words in the years past and she was sure the sounds would come out strange if she tried to use them now. She kept to the wild ways at this time, sniffing at him from a pace or so away, tail suspended out from her body but not up, not yet. She allowed a questioning sound to escape her maw, between a yip and a growl; seeing what the male might do with that, if anything at all.
Much hinged on what response of any kind that she would get from him, if he would expect her to talk, if he would attack or something else. It was a suspense that hung in the air right now, and Lex was curious and wary about it. Her gaze flicked about the area quickly to see if she could find any signs of Raptor lurking, then quickly returned to the male. She did not want to be caught off guard by him while she looked for a wayward child (if two was really considered a child anymore), nor did she want to give away the fact that she wasn't truly alone.
