aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

It had been Kalgalath's decree that she lead herbology lessons... or, perhaps, to be more accurate, healing lessons. Herbology as a whole was a wide and diverse course of knowledge, and it would take days upon weeks upon years to learn all that there was to know - even know Hellene was not sure that she knew all that there was to know. Could a wolf ever know all plants in existence without first visiting every nook and cranny through the land? And so while Hellene called herself an expert, she so understood that she was still a student and would learn what she could whenever she could. So no, today was not an herbology lesson, it was a healing lesson using occasionally common herbs. More than that, the lesson would be tailored so that it worked for whoever showed up. Everyone had a varying knowledge of plants and herbs, so there was no need to repeat common knowledge. It also would depend on what they wanted to do with the knowledge - treat the occasional scrape or treat battle wounds.

Trotting through the thick woods, ducking under low branches and pushing her way through the thick firs, she made her way toward the center of the terra. It was not far from her den, for she had wanted a place well protected for her two pups... but they were no longer pups... were they? She smiled at the thought of how much the pair of them had grown in the months (had it been over a year?) that she had been caring for them. Khaleesi had matured somewhat, but more than that had become focused on her future, wanting to following in her mother's footprints. Destan, for his part, had become braver and more adventurous, which was a lot for him. Much still frightened him, but he faced his fears now instead of running from them. They were her legacy... and this too - her knowledge - would also be her legacy.

The timberess inhaled deeply, picking out the subtle scents of the groves as she passed by them. the pack was thick with trees... but in their shade grew many herbs that Hellene used. Poppy and moss were the most common. But there were roses, chamomile... too many to name. These and more were her tools... as were basic principles of blood stasis and support. She paused as she reached the edge of the dense wood and looked out to the land before her - the clearing where Kalgalath so frequently called his pack meetings. This would do for now - it was quiet and peaceful and was devoid of too many distractions. Closing her lids, she focused her mind, for she was not the most social or patient of wolves... but this task was hers and hers alone to complete. For her King, she would complete it. Finally, she moved to the center and sat next to the rock, not daring to climb atop the King's throne, and tilted her head back, calling to any who were interested in what she had to teach.
