The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Solitaire thinks that he's doing better with the issues from his past, but he also knew there was quite a journey ahead of him to get where he probably needed to be. Either way, he was doing good with keeping a place in the pack, and he had his rank to keep him busy. Solitaire knew he would have to collect all the plants he needed for the Winter during these next few weeks, but he felt that he had a good store of them. A whole den just for all his healing things, in fact. Since he had to change dens to watch over Achlys, the first den had been converted into a place for all his plants and herbs and anything else that was useful in keeping others healthy. He had to ponder if he was going to change dens back, or if he would be asked to keep where he was if Achlys was going to have another litter.

This was something he figured he may have to ask about soon. It could be a good idea if he asked who would be having pups after Winter was a good portion of the way through. That way he could be more prepared for whatever was to happen in the Spring. Not that Solitaire would mind watching after more mothers or anything, because he certainly wasn't going to be bothered over it. In fact, the more puppies, the better the chance that he'd get to babysit some of them. That would be quite a fun thing for him, and as of now, the only way he could see himself spending any time with pups. There was nothing in his mind that made him think he would ever have his own. It just wasn't something he thought he would be able to do on any kind of whim.. wasn't sure he could..

And it wasn't very often on his mind. He wasn't to the point yet where he was sad about never having his own children because of the way he viewed the creation of them, but he was still young enough that the time could come later for him to wonder if he should try to adopt, even. Solitaire was happy for the life he already had, and did not think he needed more to it. He had his brothers around, Tristan lived in Glorall with him, and he had his pack and job and some friends. Like Malleah. It was a strange and unlikely friendship to be sure, but here it was and Solitaire wasn't even sorry about it. She had a neat point of view that was probably good for him to be around, honestly. Having a different perspective on things could give him advice in some areas, even.

Plus, he liked making her smile. When she spoke of helping with plants if he taught her, he nodded his head, liking the idea. "Sure! I can show you want plants are most needed and for what." He responded, thinking that this could be a fun sort of outing for him, and if he had some help collecting the stuff, that would be nice. "That way, you can store some for yourself in case you need them, too. Even if I come around to check on you, it's good to have stuff on paw." He adds, thinking it over. He would feel better if Malleah had some knowledge on healing, if only enough to get by in a jiffy if he wasn't around soon enough. Of course even if she didn't collect plants for him, he would still want to help her out when he could. The more he thought about it, the less he liked her being out here alone in the Winter months.

Yet he didn't say anything about it. He didn't know what he could say at all, honestly. He didn't want to offend her, either, by bringing up the fact that she was sorta on the fragile side of things from the looks of it. Solitaire would keep his mouth shut on that, for now. Of course what Malleah brought up next was just as uncomfortable a topic for him. Still, he would try to gloss over it. "No, I don't think I'll have children... although maybe I could adopt someday.." He was feeling pretty awkward getting the words out, but at least he had done it without sounding too strained... he thinks. He knew that Malleah was mostly messing with him to see his reaction by the way she had winked at him and the tone of her voice, but he was sure she had an idea on his feelings over.. that matter.

He followed her to the site of her den, eyeing the small entrance. Yeah, there was certainly no way he was going to be able to look inside it except for maybe sticking his head in the entrance of it, but that was the point, he figures. It would keep Malleah safe from intruders for the most part. When she questions him on it and tells him of the back way out, he nods to her. "I think it'll work very well for you. There aren't a lot of smaller wolves like you, so I doubt anyone would be able to get at you in there. And the back escape is good if they try to wait for you on the outside." All in all, Solitaire thought it was a well thought out den place for her. He smiled, glad at least that she would be protected this way when in the den.
