Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

When Raptor was in trouble, there was no scolding. Growling and snarling were warnings to her, but to actually anger her mother had only gained her physical punishment. Not so much as a true beating, because Lex was not a cruel creature, but something to tell Raptor that she had been in the wrong for whatever she had done. Once Lex had pressed her into the dirt for nearly scaring away prey. Things like that had been how Raptor learned good from bad, how to better survive. There had not been words passed between the pair, except her name. Which in Raptor's mind was merely just another sound made that meant her. Before the name had been given (when she had been a yearling, after proving herself the survivor of her littermates), there had been nothing she was called. The other two had been called nothing as well. Only the strong needed a name.

She did not understand the idea of large packs like there were in Moladion, only thinking of packs as the small groups like herself and her mother. They wandered together, hunted together and did most things not far from the other. Seeing packs like Moladion had were confusing to her. Anything bigger than around seven wolves together made her wary. Often they acted in ways she could not figure out, but she had decided it best not to try and bother with them at all. Her mother was more at ease around them, and with that, Raptor did not feel a reason to fear them for anything but the real threats that they could pose to her. Strength in numbers was a true risk when being near them, but they often were not. She does not know if this was because of her discomfort around them and the fact that her mother realized that, or if Lex had another reason about the matter.

The year had been good to them this time around, and it made Raptor curious as to if Lex would allow a suitor closer when snow hit. She was not oblivious to these things, but she never had to deal with new pups in their group. That would be interesting to her, but she knew she could not get attached to any of them if they happened. She understood the ways of her mother and how it must go. Only when one remained could Raptor get close. This still made her curious on the matter. Lex sniffing around dens in general made Raptor wonder more on the idea. Still, she shoved the thoughts away and focused. As soon as she did, she noted the scent of another nearby. A young one. For all the strange ways, Raptor was not a cannibal. She did not consider the younger one to be any type of meal, but that did not mean she would automatically pass the youth by without a glance.

Her movements slowed at the sight of the approaching youngster, and Raptor leaned her head out to sniff in the little female's direction. The call out made Raptor tilt her head thoughtfully, registering the sound as a greeting. A humming sort of sound vibrated in Raptor's throat as a reply back, and she allowed a wave of her tail to indicate that she meant no harm to the younger one.
