"The Cat Who Went to Heaven" by Elizabeth Coatsworth

The name caught my attention when I was nine and I think it was one of the closest things to realistic fiction I read.

The first three Narnia books... I didn't really enjoy the ones that were time oriented after that. So...

"The Magician's Nephew" by C.S. Lewis

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis

"The Horse and His Boy" by C.S. Lewis

Remembering some others now that seemed very gentle to read, but fun. It's a series, but I only read this one.

"A Glory of Unicorns" by Bruce Coville

Then there's one that I often recommend, but sometimes takes people a while to get into as the subject matter can make others nervous in case it isn't handled well... Puns may also make it difficult for those that didn't grow up with them (I blame my father). Same with any others of his books, but he is extremely prolific, so might be easy to come by.

"On A Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony

Um... I'll edit this when I remember some of the others.
