Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

At seventeen, she had seen a lot. In fact, she had experienced so much that at times, she found it unnerving how well she could tolerate the things that happened around her. When she had seen Alcide and Moonglow prepare for their own end, she had wondered how she'd handle it and yet, she had done well to withstand their passing. Alcide had reminded her so much of Soldat, it seemed, and so, his passing seemed like a continuation of a grief she had felt for so many years. Eventually, it all lumped itself together. It made things tough, sure, but it also made them survivable. She'd done it all before. She'd felt this tension before and she had survived it, and she had gone on to thrive all the same. How she had not become numb? Well, not even she could understand that. Perhaps she had been made of tougher stuff, after all.

Still, it was because of that snowballing that she did need to get away. She needed to be able to return better and not just for herself - they'd need her, or at least, they'd need parts of her soon enough. Swallowbane and Ceal had seemingly ventured off elsewhere despite their dedication to having wanted to learn healing and now, with all this change and winter on its way... they'd need somebody who could help. She figured that was what she'd do when she returned. She'd stock up. She'd prepare. She'd ready herself so that when the floodgates opened, whenever that might be, she'd be able to hold back the water for the others. After all, she'd lost so many... she never wanted to again.

She could understand others being just as tense. After all, she had little doubt the stress and worry of it all had been isolated to just Spirane or even Diveen - it likely surged out like a plague. Even those not directly impacted could likely feel it in their own bones. So, she paid it no particular mind when he seemed apprehensive at first - instead, she merely waited it out for a moment, ensuring she had not trespassed. When it seemed like all was well was when she entered the water, feeling it rush across her skin with the subtle bite of winter.

"I'm sorry to hear that you need soothing," she had said it without thought as she stared into the water that rushed by, rippling her reflection as it tumbled downstream. Idly, she swished her paw through the water in front of her, smiling down as it battled against the current.

"Are you from... Iromar?"

This question had come intentionally now as she swung her gaze up to his with curiosity, her head tilted ever so slightly. She had never met a wolf from there though it hadn't been from lack of trying. Still, she had always believed something about them - to think a wolf from such a place needed soothing! She'd never stopped to consider it. Perhaps things had changed far more than initially thought and her reclusive nature had only served to keep her away from these new, exciting ones.
