At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

Kalgalath had stayed awake silently by her side for the next few hours before the maiden had even stirred. The entire night she had been still, without her Lids even flickering to signify dreams. Her rest had been much needed- time for her body to recuperate. And Kalgalath had taken all of that time to study her - to try to figure out some clue about her past since she had yet to tell him any facts. His arctics had peered at her pelt first, which rose and fell with his own breaths. It was thick at first glance, yes, but it wasn't healthy. The undercoat was thin and the individual hairs were broken. Unlike his which stood stark up, hers were crumpled, lacking the nutrients her poor diet had kept from her. It was also apparent in her frame just how little she had been eating - there were protuberances were there should instead be smooth contour. There were shadows of ribs when they should be invisible altogether. And, more so than that, there were loose hairs everywhere - the ess had not spent much time grooming herself in the recent past.

Putting that together with her frequent mental absences which were themselves coupled with tremors of fear... Well all that Kalgalath could figure was that she had something dark in her past that was continuing to trouble her. The brute so desperately wanted to help her but that was not his role or his duty, and he could not force her to talk to him. So for now, all he could do was to be there for her, a shoulder of strength to lean upon.

It was only when the rolling fire was directly overhead, the morning almost fully lost, that Sebring began to stir. She leaned into him and began to shake, but this time, kalgalath's pinnae noticed that it was accompanied by a sound - a purr. The shaking was her chest rumbling against his own with a sound of pure contentment. Good morning Kalgalath. Slowly, just as it had done the night before, the maiden's nape swiveled her cranium, her suns searching for his pools. Upon catching them, her facade broke into a smile and her purr faded away into silence as her slumber began to dissipate. Shall we wash away yesterdays troubles? And start anew?

The mottled brute chuckled, and even with that slight of a movement he felt the sand that was buried deep into his fur. It had settled there overnight, the wind that coursed over the lakes surface picking up the silt and depositing it upon them. As he stood, the brute felt her leaned further against him, as if trying to prevent him from leaving, but he was not sure that actually happened. As he moved, he winced as he felt just how stiff his pelt was but nodded to the ess, a small laugh escaping from his kissers as he grinned at her in return. "Indeed we should! I feel like I'm a statue come to life - my pelt is hard enough to be chipped stone." She stood up, moving beside him. "Did you sleep alright?" He peered down at her and in response she started walking toward the lake, moving into the water. She paused, looking back at him, and waited. Kalgalath smiled, and then his long limbs started pushing him toward the water's edge. Briefly, he rubbed up against her, sure that she would have at least some moment of fear after what had happened yesterday. She had nearly drowned, and now she was in the water by her own decision. Kalgalath moved past her into the deeper water until it swirled over his pack and he waited, allowing the natural ebb and flow to sweep the sand out of his thick pelt.
